It's a good thing that corrupt people in government are fearful of Trump. The status quo and those who have been feeding and profiting off the corruption, especially agencies like the EPA and department of energy and the BLM and many others do in fact need to be reigned in, and have it done quick like.

The current situation has allowed our freedoms to disappear, and officials to just laugh at the American people when words like "accountability" are put towards them. And they are using public money to spit in the face of accountability.

We see it with the department of justice being used as defense against crimes and malfeasance. The absconding of public funds to the tune of trillions by the Obama admin. etc. etc. etc..

The EPA took the blame. Private contractors were directly responsible for the spill itself. And they are cleaning up after private mining businesses long gone.

As you can see on this chart the increase in costs is not because it costs more to operate or for maintenance or upkeep the costs are DIRECTLY related to EPA regulation.

The data you linked to does not distinguish between coal and natural gas. Natural gas burns cleaner than coal because it does not contain sulfur, mercury, or radioactive isotopes like coal does. Coal burning plants release more radioactivity into the atmosphere than well maintained nuclear power plants. Now, if you want your children to be breathing toxic gases and have your garden ruined by acid rain, that is your choice. If the EPA were abolished, the environmental regulations would be settled at a local level, where they would probably be more stringent because no-one wants their children playing in fly ash. Do you?

The men who are the subject of the OP are not the corrupted politicians of today's govt. Their fear of Trump is over his ignorance of science and their party's once heralded working with science. IMO they fail to address why their party is that way, the corrupting corporate influence directly with politicians and the voting block that is influenced by corporate narrative.

IMO the GOP war with itself is between its two factions. One is the "establishment" who indeed has been corrupted by corporate influence to let corporations write bills, get contracts in an increasingly vocal narrative about privatizing govt functions, and help spread reasons for govt action (such as war or privatizing govt). The other faction is the extremist Koch Libertarian wing, that wants to do away with all functions of govt period except for war and police.

So the fight is between corrupted govt or no govt at all, i.e. corporate rule. It is possible to get back to a time (such as when the OP men were in govt), but it will take getting corporate money and influence out of govt. Changing the rules of the game. That, or we will live with either govt corruption or corporate rule with corporate corruption. Name your poison.

I don't think that Trump is aware that he has been co-opted by Koch ideology, because ever since he has formally started to run a campaign, his team has had Koch ideologists on board. His economic advisers are Libertarian "drown govt in a bath tub" economists.

We were not always the most corrupt country, but we are now. We just don't call it corruption.

Yes. The govt would suddenly not be free of corruption with Trump as President. Oh, I suppose he could do that in an authoritarian govt, but, here we have something called Congress, where much of the corruption takes place. And the Supreme Court who rules on campaign finance reform.

No, what the GOP leaders fear is the irrationality, the unreasonableness of Donald Trump, his appeal to their base of
