Well. As easy as it is to dismiss this person as someone within that timeframe, i would like to guess it is a time traveler due to this being ATS, and there are no coincidences.
You obviously have a lineage of servicemen in your family. So let's rewind and suppose your grandfather was, 40 years prior, part of a naval project (or military) where he could travel through time.
Inversely, your ethics may rub off on your son, who in 20+ years may have a military opportunity not unlike Titor.
Mind you i am just trying to keep the off the wall theories and themes together to make them sound possible.
Regardless if it twere you, you'd recognize yourself, since you recognize a resemblance, I think there are possibilities of time travel.
Additiionally, it could be your great grandson.
