I have had several threads on taboo topics sent to the trash bin. Just recently, it happened to possibly my favorite thread of all-time.

I have a proposal:

How about a forum that is only visible to registered users and hidden from search engines? Some of the topics that are currently off limits could be allowed there.

I understand the business necessity of not associating certain topics with a website like this. But, allowing some of those topics could increase traffic. My proposal could also help make the forum more interesting and productive.

I love it. An area with a disclaimer so you know that when you enter that area, you may come across subjects that aren't so great(as long as they aren't condoning dangerous/illegal activity). I don't see the harm in it. I vote yes.

Technically we already have a forum like that, it's the RATS forum (Really Above Topic Secret).

Hell no. He is going to be the first on my Forbidden Topics hit list. His hero worship days must end before he dies so he can enjoy the shame. If he even knows shame.

Not even close! The verboten topics stay verboten. I could make a list for you but, you know how that would work out.

A "Taboo" category, by ATS standards, oh my. LOL

Whatever happened to the "Drugs" forum"??

I do not think the description below has anything to do with taboo topics.

The original intention of RATS was a forum in which users could feel safe to post their theories, observations, stories, etc. of a conspiratorial nature or subject genre related to the AboveTopSecret.com 'Deny Ignorance' motto. Safe from web search bots and prying eyes, general chit chat should take place on BTS or even individual ATS forums.

I have had four such topics sent to the trash bin at least. I think they were all tame.

Even so, his contribution here is without question.

I don't see him as a hero. I see him as a man who knows many secrets and it is what he doesn't say that is so enlightening.

General chit chat... members forum...
Man i must be old. Its a bit touchy.

There used to be a "Drugs" category they rolled out around 2009'ish, that couldn't be seen by Google / non-members etc.

What exactly constitutes a "taboo" topic?

The list of things that aren't open for discussion on ATS are pretty small... Threads about personal drug use, hate threads, threads that lead to personal harassment of innocent people ( threads about other members, threads that always end up containing personal contact information of the victims of terrorist attacks etc ), threads that are too overtly sexual or that contain porn or gore and that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Even with some of those subjects, however, threads can be made if they are carefully worded and approached. Drugs, for example... a thread about something like how the CIA reinforced the spread of crack coc aine is perfectly fine. A thread discussing how much fun it is to do crack is not.

The site owners have previously and on multiple occasions discussed why some subjects are not allowed here and have stated that there are plenty of other places online that do allow or even specialize in those taboo topics.

It could be almost anything. There is a poster here who claimed that threads related to the Mendela Effect concerning anatomy changes are taboo. They made a convincing case. I had a thread on that topic deleted myself.

I recall a thread about godlikeproduction's contract that I started being deleted. That was an outstanding thread, but I was warned it was taboo (before the deletion). It could not have been against the T&C because a much harsher thread about GLP was never deleted as far as I know.

I have had a of couple of tame sex-related topics deleted (paraphrasing the titles):

Why do women lie about what they will do in the bedroom?

Do transgenders affect your view of porn?

This new forum would open things up a lot.

ATS is family friendly, sounds like you need to find another discussion board that is ok with discussing these explicit things.

I have no desire to read about it.

Are you saying a mod warned you before deleting a threat that it was taboo? Or another member? I saw your thread about women lying in the bedroom, and I thought it was a really creepy sort of thing to discuss on ATS, but unless it got a whole lot creepier or violated the T&C in some way I wouldn't have thought it would be considered taboo.

I didn't see your other threads...you make so many, it's hard to keep up with sometimes...but I cannot fathom why the human anatomy would be taboo...or why anyone on this forum would say such a thing. If it wasn't overtly sexual, who cares if you think your anatomy has changed?

Hopefully a mod will come along and explain why people are telling others that ordinary topics such as anatomy have been deemed taboo. That's information we all need to be made aware of.

Given the limited understanding of anything you'd get by mainstream sources vs. the real life dark scopes of the world found here, the site ought to be rated something like NC-17!

A member made a comment that the thread about GLP would not last. It was something about it being a taboo-type thing.

I saw your thread about women lying in the bedroom, and I thought it was a really creepy sort of thing to discuss on ATS

How is discussing something that is very common in modern life "creepy"? To me, the creepy thing is ignoring such issues. The thread was not about deviant behavior. It was about something that is very ordinary.

Concerning the anatomy issue, I could give you the argument the person made in a PM. I can only do it that way because we cannot quote posters from other threads.
