You've both inspired me, if by some miracle I ever strike it rich, I'm going to do all my big transactions dressed like I just crawled out of a cardboard box driving the grungiest looking car I can find.

I have my own story. I was handling my father's finances at one point and I needed to cash a payroll check (mine) but his bank would not let me since it would have been double endorsed with first my signature and then his via power of attorney. When I asked for the bank manager she did not want to help at all.

Since I was in a hurry I went home and then cashed the check the next day, I asked for a few twenties for myself for gas money and then close to $1,000 in singles. I unbanded them, mixed them by flipping some over and turning others wrong side up and then rebanded them. I took them back to the teller, had her deposit them in my father's account (she had to straighten them one at a time) and then closed my father's account out with my handy dandy power of financial attorney paperwork.

Anyway - I'm drifting off my own topic! Just - what do you guys think about this?

I created a thread on this a while back
Targetted audience in Walmart spending 250 Billion dollars in the next 10 years to bring back

And it was a hot topic, LOL

Summary
I saw a few possibility at the moment as to the motivation to do this:
Expanded on my thread but the jyst:

1. The scariest financial doom porn as of yet:

2. Walmart economic bluffing:

3. Subtle Political warfare:

4. Impending negative work relations with China:

5. PR:

6. Hillary Clinton:

Wow, I'm sorry I missed it! Still, there are several topics that need to be "bumped" at intervals.

Keep everyone in the loop and interested....right?
Thanks for linking your thread in. That adds even more to the dialogue!

You can't really compare Costco and Walmart. They are two completely different businesses. They way Costco does business allows it to pay its workers more.

Con permiso. Please humor me by allowing me to add one more story about clothing.... it's been a long day's fight with my internet connections. A funny cute true story. My sister had to move from the West Coast to a large East Coast city. She decided to buy a full length mink coat from someone who had moved to her town from the East Coast and was unloading it cheap. She took "Elliot" with her to start wearing when the weather got cold.

She started working in Summer, as a secretary in a law firm downtown, beautiful tall old building. She always dressed well, but not like the female lawyers who had the money for expensive outfits. Oh, my sister did shop thrift stores for expensive quality clothing, she knew exactly what to look for. Anyway, she would get on the elevator every morning but no one engaged the lowly secretary in conversation, let alone pay her any attention.

Then Winter weather came on. She took Elliot out of storage and wore him to work for the first time. She said that, for the first time, people, even strangers, would engage her in conversation. What a difference! She laughed as she explained to me they probably thought she was either a lawyer or a wife getting a divorce from her wealthy husband.

She returned to the West Coast after several years and ended up selling Elliot. Somewhere out there is a lucky woman who wears a full length mink coat and gets noticed as my sister did..... either that, or somewhere out there is a full length mink coat on which red paint has been splattered by a zealous PETA member and has been relegated to a trash bin.

No Problem, I just figured I linked my thoughts on it rather than re writing it.

I haven't seen any big moves by Walmart since the commercial first aired which adds credibility to it being a PR stunt. However, I also haven't been looking.

Interesting enough its not always the easiest commercial to find either and for some reason it keeps getting deleted from you tube. You would think they would want as most coverage for an advertisement they paid for and for users to freely distribute? All the hype kid of went away quickly?

Don't forget their move to hire more Veterans.

BTW, legal Veterans typically have pensions and free health care and that benefits Walmart.

Responsibility, philanthropy and humanitarianism instead of profit at all costs.

It means if you shop at Buzzy-Mart you will be purchasing environmentally friendly, sustainable goods, that some of the proceeds will go to charity and she will give you a big hug at check out.
