how come police never shoot unarmed black doctors or lawyers... hmm.

blm is almost guaranteed to exacerbate the situation with ignorant rhetoric.

meanwhile, 1.35 blacks are dying in Chicago right now.

either way, that kid had 0 chance of living. the odds and stats were against him by just existing.

im sure that hero cop will get off, relocate and get hired as a private guard somewhere.

Ive made this point before. Black doctors and other people who afent hoodrats usually dont find themselves in a position where they are confrontational with police. Despite what blm may want to claim the common factor in all fhese cases is not race.

The City of Chicago is overacting. Next they'll be releasing video and declaring a state of emergency, if a squad car runs over a black cat.

Yeah, let's ignore the stolen car part... had to get through the article to find:

"ABC 7 reported that O’Neal was the driving, saying, “O’Neal was driving the vehicle, which crashed into a police cruiser and then sideswiped another before two officers started shooting from inside their car. A third officer got out of their car and fired, what police believe, was the fatal shot.” However, O’Neal’s cousin, Zhivago Short, 20, told Heavy, “He wasn’t the driver.” There was another teenager in the car."

I'm not for cops shooting people and generally don't like the meathead militarization of police, but at some point too people need to start being held accountable for their own actions.

It would be pretty hard to sell me, or anyone who has any firearms experience, that firing at a moving car in a neighborhood isn't so far beyond stupid that is almost surpasses negligence. Chicago PD agrees with me, which is what predicated the removal of the officers involved.

VIctim blaming, even when subtle, is almost always bad form. Yes, he stole a car. He didn't murder someone. Even in Texas, you can't shoot at someone stealing your car in broad daylight.

This criminal did so much more than just simply stealing a car.

He attempted to murder two police officers and possibly more by assaulting them with a deadly weapon when he nearly ran them over.

Don't let facts ruin the narrative though.

Fact: it is a violation of Chicago PD operational standards to fire into a moving vehicle when the vehicle is the only weapon of assault. Because its not assault when you are standing in the middle of the street facing an oncoming car.

While I am not going to say the kid was in the right, i won't let him being in the wrong turn the stupidity of standing in the street when a car is coming at you into "assault". Even more, high speed chases, especially in property crimes, should be against the law. The perpetrator is going to run. Smart policing (and common sense), knowing this, would say to not chase and put lives in danger to arrest a car thief. The whole chase thing is simply a police pissing match.

So what you are saying is that the criminal was doing nothing wrong when attempting to run the cops over because they were "standing in the middle of the street facing an oncoming car"?

Never mind the fact that the car was stolen and the cops were attempting to apprehend the criminal.

Unbelievable.

No, that's what you just said. What i am saying is that its not something that Chicago PD feels should be worthy of discharging a firearm over. And that because the officers violated policy, the deceased is now a victim. In the state of Texas, our rather aggressive castle doctrine won't allow you to shoot someone in broad daylight for simple property crimes.

Im also saying that if someone is stupid enough to stand in front of a speeding car, I can't really feel sorry for them, regardless of the uniform or circumstance. Its unnecessary bravado that forces an unnecessary confrontation, and set of criminal charges, solely to make the officer get to have an adrenaline rush. For what its worth, this last paragrph is solely my opinion.

Its a property crime committed during broad daylight. There wsa no physical malice until the police created the opportunity by trying to lean into a pitch and take one for the team. Purely concocted just to pile on charges and get commendations.

Its a property crime, meaning the person whose car was stolen needs to have insurance if the police are not able to recover it. But to engage in a high speed chase, and shoot randomly into a moving vehicle speeding through a residential neighborhood just so someone can get their Jag back....is so stupid that Chicago PD doesn't allow it by policy.
