Who couldn't help but love ABBA? I guess if you don't like pop music, it's understandable.

They believed in honesty in their music. In my opinion, nothing epitomizes that better than their song, "That's Me."

Are you sure you want to hear more?

They sing it like a warning. I once dreamed of being in a relationship with a woman such as the one described in the song. It was definitely a "be careful what you wish for" kind of thing. Because, the song, if taken as a warning, is quite perfect.

Are you sure you want to hear more
What if I ain't worth the while
Not the style you'd be looking for
If I'm sweet tonight
Things look different in the morning light
I'm jealous and I'm proud
If you hurt my feelings I'll cry out loud
I'm Carrie not-the-kind-of-girl-you'd-marry
That's me

Are you sure you want to hear more
Would I be the one you seek
Mild and meek like the girl next door
Don't you realize
I may be an angel in disguise
It's lonely to be free
But I'm not a man's toy, I'll never be
I'm Carrie not-the-kind-of-girl-you'd-marry
That's me

I don't believe in fairy-tales
Sweet nothings in my ear
But I do believe in sympathy
That's me, you see

Are you sure you want to hear more
Won't you have a drink with me
Just to see you're not really sore
I can't help my ways
I'm just not the girl to hide my face
I'm Carrie not-the-kind-of-girl-you'd-marry
That's me

There's a special love
Like an eagle flying with a dove
I'll find it in the end
If I keep on searching, but until then
I'm Carrie not-the-kind-of-girl-you'd-marry
That's me

Absolute best ABBA song ever, and corresponding video, in my opinion:

(watch some of the vid and see the awesome "Brady Bunch" stuff going on...then read the rest of my post)

I can't seem to get the vid to load...

Growing up, my parents had an 8-track tape stereo player thingy
This would have been the late 70s early 80s. They had probably about 5 different 8-track tapes they would listen to every day when they got home from work, and sometimes all day on the weekends. All of them were some sort of "best of" albums. One of those albums was "best of" ABBA. Listened to it many, many times.

Another one of those "best of" albums was Kenny Rogers. To this day, some 30+ years later, I can still sing along with "The Gambler" word for word, and in my best Kenny Rogers voice...

ABBA is fabulous!

Their music comprises the soundtrack for Muriel's Wedding, a fantastic dramedy about mean girls and underdogs (the mean girls lose!).

My favorite line ever, the mean girls invite Rhonda to have a drink with them.....
"Stick your drink up your ass Tanya, I would rather swallow razor blades than drink with you!"

sad thing is...theyve always gotten a bad rap as too sugary or bubblegum sounding.

Once the largest income producer for the country of Sweden, I always loved their Phil Spector-type layers of multi-track sound.

In concert with a large band...they were able to reproduce their recorded sound flawlessly.

Never heard abba getting a bad reputation over here in Blighty

Phenomenal songwriting and exceptional singing, can't say I have ever heard a bad Abba track to be honest

I'm a rock metal guy but give respect where it's due,and this band deserve it for so many catchy tunes

I even got an old band I was in a few years ago to add mamma Mia to the set list and every show we played the audience would all sing, male and female it didn't matter they all knew the words to this classic song
