Yeah, specifically SHA256. It could very well be the hash of a password extracted from a database or file, or it could simply be the hash of a file. If the latter then he could be telling somebody that he has a particular file and it would be highly unlikely that he could randomly guess a hash like that unless he really does have it. My initial idea was that he has been able to decrypt an individual file or file system and this is the resulting hash, thus potentially proving that he has indeed cracked something. Could be a primality algorithm having being applied for all we know, at least I believe Toronto University have done some work in cracking the “insurance files” so it certainly looks rather ominous.

It could also be..nothing. Just to make twits like myself pine over because it's way above my head but "looks" important. I don't think that's the case but it is an option.

Both Snowden and Assange, whether you think of them as Black Hat Traitors or White Hat Heroes, are playing with us with cryptic messages or taunts (Your choice) and we are lapping it up, analyzing very word and comma, speculating on What All This Means.

Meanwhile, nothing of significance has happened, and we are sitting here panting for more.

What if I post a random SHA256 hash, then does it also mean nothing?

That's more information than we've seen so far.

I have a feeling they're making a lot of money off this.

What does this all mean? Is it related to "It's time"?

Editing to add he just deleted the tweet. It was up for about 30 minutes. I took a screenshot because I figured he'd remove it. Still no idea what it means, if anything.

Where's Phage when you need him? I'm sure he could read that as easily as I can read English.

It's kind of fun! He captured a lot of people's attention, maybe over nothing. But, whatever it's time for could be something worth waiting for.

gibberish

Other thoughts:

I don't think Putin would betray him.

I don't think Putin is involved with him. He just approved refuge for him and warned him not to put Russia in a compromising position with more revelations.

I do think Trump should change his stance on Edward after giving reasons why he believes he is a traitor, then he should apologize to Edward. Just my two pennies.

I can think of plenty of names in the U.S. administration and politics, past and present, who fit the description of traitor much better.

If that's already tied to a specific file somehow, someone in the know stateside just shat themselves.

One way or the other, I smell a file dump coming soon.

Interesting. Usually Snowden delivers with stuff. I think something is about to be dumped or released.

Wiki leaks usually releases stuff too, I don't like the "We have stuff on Hillary and will release it soon" Game.

I just tried converting this as hex to text: ffdae96f8dd292374a966ec8b57d9cc680ce1d23cb7072c522efe32a1a7e34b0

and it's gibberish, so that isn't it. I'll keep trying. The string is definitely within the hex range of 0-F, though. I'll try hexadecimal to decimal, but it will be slow.

Hi Nyiah. I agree that this hash string will lead to an impending information dump.
Via twitter Snowden asked for select peeps to contact him recently. Maybe this hash string is a key for those individuals to do so securely, through an already established channel?

Interesting, to say the least. I'm keeping an eye on theintercept.com, awaiting something new from the Snowden files.

Here's a hex to decimal conversion:

ffdae9
6f8dd2
92374a
966ec8
b57d9c
c680ce
1d23cb
7072c5
22efe3
2a1a7e
34b0

255 218 57
111 141 210
146 55 74
150 110 200
181 125 156
198 128 206
29 35 203
112 114 197
34 239 227
42 26 126
52 176

I chose groups of three simply for convenience and to keep it straight. ASCII generally goes from 0-128 so these numbers do NOT convert directly to ASCII. I have a feeling these really are Hex numbers though, but they must represent something other than text. Oh, well--worth a try. One could go to octal, but I think it is a long shot as it's fairly rare. And there's always binary, but I don't think that would help us here. I'm thinking it's an encryption key of some sort.

One possibility would be to strip 128 off of any hex number higher than 0-127 to convert everything 128 to 255 to 0-127 and see if THAT translates to ASCII. Feel free. I'm drinking wine.

Just a well known site like us here... Different videos and news each day.. UFOs, pyramids, giants, ghosts, psychic stuff...

Bottom line? Some trick you with an interesting story like this twitter announcement... and I was just following. and BAM!
Ransomware. "To unlock your screen.. Blah blah
Contact...."..It happens***

** To get out of these locked up screens you cant click or closeout? What works for me? I hit my computer power off and kill it from power swich with everything just left open... I then hit power, reboot... Seems everything comes back normal. Works for me...

Hope that may work for others!!

If I ever stumble upon somewhere I shouldn't have been and things lock up, I use alt+f4 to immediately close any and all windows. Ctrl+alt+del sometimes to shut down any we browser processes running as well.

I should have started a new thread for this because some jerk came along 3 hours later and started one, and now he has SO many stars and flags, while I have three, THREE stars for my post. I'm talking about YOU SkepticOverlord.
