In separate statements, Ryan and McConnell expressed support for the Khans and reiterated their opposition to Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims, but neither mentioned Trump by name and neither abandoned his support for the Republican nominee. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) had no such buffer. In a strongly worded statement Monday, the chairman of the Senate Armed Forces Committee took direct aim at Trump. [Source]

Trump campaign asks Capitol Hill to back him in Khan controversy

The appeal did not generate any help for Trump. A senior Senate Republican aide, who asked not to be identified, said Republican senators were pleased with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's statement on Sunday calling Captain Khan "an American hero" and noting "a travel ban on all members of a religion is simply contrary to American values."

Broad array of military luminaries condemn Trump over attacks on Khan family

A bipartisan constellation of decorated combat veterans, members of Congress and family members of slain soldiers admonished Donald Trump on Monday for criticizing the Muslim American parents of an Army officer killed in Iraq, threatening to undermine Trump’s support among core Republican voters. The condemnations by Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John McCain (R-Ariz.), the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and dozens of veterans and family members of those killed in the line of duty served as the most forceful rebuke yet of the mogul’s comments and his anti-Muslim rhetoric.

Thinking maybe Donald really screwed up this time.

Veterans on FoxNews...you just don't go after Gold Star families.

Sacrifice. Honor, Integrity. All things Trump knows nothing of.

It was pretty pathetic the DNC used these people for race bait as with the illegal immigrants they brought on stage. I would say both sides are pretty pathetic when it comes to ethics and morals.

Like I said in another thread,

I read where leftists wanted to beat the mother of the son that died in Benghazi.

And now everyone is weeping for Khan?

Bull#.

More leftist hypocrisy. And yes, the PC whiny GOP is included.

Good they should.

Both sides need to stop abusing Veterans.

Most of us do not support Hillary or Trump. Just look at the VPOA, etc. Those that do are party liners at best and putting the values taught by the military behind their personal politics.

Trump claims that he will do right by them, but then does things like this.

Clinton has a track record of lying to Vets.

Republicans denounce Trump

Since when have they not ?
Just looking for something. Even a paid someone on stage shouting at Trump . Offering to give Trump his copy of the Constitution. Which was conveniently given to him just before he took the stage.Just to where he could offer it. Completely rehearsed , staged , an bought

And the parents have forgotten which group that their son was fighting against. Which , one could say , would make it hypocrisy.

Which is my take on this. Except for the last line. Which stands as a true statement
Peace.

Unfortunately, Ryan, McConnell and McCain still make it clear that they're going to vote for him. They aren't strong enough to actually denounce him. They'd sell the people of this country down the river as long as they can keep their jobs. I wonder who that first brave top Republican is going to be... Who will denounce Trump, even though they're running for re-election?

This issue is a great example of how different the two candidates are.

Trump's personality forced him to respond to this family, when he should have just let it be to minimize their effect.

Hillary was blamed for the death of a Mother's son in Benghazi at the RNC and she said nothing about it.

Trump is a man-baby that does not have the temperament or maturity to run this country. Hillary, even with all her downfalls, does have what it takes to lead.

Considering how the polls are looking, it would appear that we may not have to worry about Trump much longer.

List of republicans who have come out against Trump, saying they will not vote for him.

www.msnbc.com...

One of the tweets: " the GOP is going to nominate for President a guy who reads the National Enquirer and thinks it's on the level. I'm with her."

I had a feeling that eventually, all the Rep. politicians would turn on him.
It was only a matter of time. They have always hated him because he wants to change the corrupt system and take the money from their pockets, possibly exposing them for the money grubbing, special interest serving, citizen hating poieces of garbage that they are.
The republican majority want HRC as much as the democrat majority.
All of them are crooked basterds.
Trump is the only thing that might have a chance to put the country back in the hands of the citizens and local governments,
not the federal government like the washington politicians want.
The more they hate him, the more I like him.

But the topic here is them denouncing him over this issue.

Our schools have failed us regarding literacy and logic.
