The Last Chapter

Your love is a weapon and my armor is weak
You’re unable to give the honesty and protection I seek
Our hearts beat to a tune only they can play
We’ve lost each other on the path of life
Broken lives lay scattered along the way

So now you’ve told me that love has gone
We searched for it together until the dawn
It’s true, it left sometime in the night
during the quarrels and the script that we often rehearse
We were just actors in a play with no end in sight

Now what? What, you say?
You’ve taken part of our souls, again, another day
Stabbing me with answers to questions I did not ask
You seem compelled to injure and give out freely
and it seems within your deceit and lies you bask

Of course I forgive you, you’re weak like me
Perhaps after your life’s journey ends you will see
through our broken spirits and blood stained eyes
that we will always be kindred souls
and this bond, like ours can never truly die
