Not a single Ivanka Trump item at Macy's flagship store was produced in the US

When she tweeted a link the morning after delivering a speech about how her father would fight for America, the $139 (£106) pink dress she had worn sold out online.

Yet many will be surprised to learn that the vast majority of Ms Trump’s clothes are not manufactured in US, but in China and Vietnam, two countries under the spotlight for human rights abuses and poor labour conditions. Some of the items are labelled simply as “imported”.

Make America great again people, by outsourcing your clothing line to countries with human rights issues. Another win for the Trump campaign. LOL

Trump is a businessman. There is no money to be made with made in the USA. He knows this but there is little he can do about it until he can be president.

Capitalism 101 = profit must increase.

So, the natural conclusion of Capitalism, as it currently exists on the planet, is for massive Corporations to emerge who control all resources and products that all humans either need or want. We already see this in industries such as Oil & Gas, Banking, Food, Communications, media and other global economic interests.

The ever-increasing cost of labour in industrialized western nations is a prime target for large corporations because labour overheads and manufacturing costs constitute the largest chunk of the profit margin so reducing that is key. Starting with semi-automation and limiting workforce until outsourcing overseas is approved.

They also deal with Saudi Arabia too, but we won't go there because that's next-level commercial shenanigans and even more US interests, and political parties and lobbyists enjoy that relationship too, due to the vast profits and money 'exchanged'.

Many US corporations operate thusly, including Trumps and Trumpettes.

Hardly anything is made in America anymore, ESPECIALLY clothing.

LOL, indeed.

This whole thing obviously is a little too complex for you to understand, so I'm going to be helpful.

Under the current business landscape and due to current legislation it makes far more sense to manufacture overseas. Electronics, clothing, beauty supplies, whatever, it's far cheaper. What that equates to is it being bad business to manufacture the above in America. What business man or woman wants to lose money and cut into their profit/sustainability?

And what does Trump want to do? Change the current environment/legislation so that it makes sense to manufacture here. Do that then you'd see Ivanka and a host of others focus their manufacturing in the states. Why? Because it'd then make sense.

It's quite remarkable you don't understand even the most basic concepts of business.

The OP doesn't realize that this actually looks bad for Hillary, not Trump. It's the free trade agreements like NAFTA and the soon to be TPP that she supports that caused manufacturing to leave the country.

You think the Obama trying to fast-track the TPP was bad? Elect Hillary and the damn thing will be on a high-speed maglev train.

The phone/computer he typed this crap thread on was made overseas too.

The OP thought he was being clever but all he did was show he doesn't understand basic business fundamentals and himself supports overseas low-wage factory slavery.

There's an added advantage (for tptb) to producing everything overseas that no one ever thinks about.

One of the most crucial steps for a successful revolution is to take control of the means of production.

No means of production, no revolution.

America great again? You mean the USA (the country formerly known as a superpower)? Pretty much only exists as a name and was sold out a long time ago by our very own corporations who are growing the economy of communist countries whose elite now own large chunks of real estate right here.

We can't blame them. The blame lies with the lemmings who had no foresight - who blamed unions for the manufacturing industries closing, believed that a service based economy which produces nothing tangible was sustainable, and flocks to buy pink dresses and flashy shoes just because a celebrity wears them.

a reply to: shredderofsoulsThat is because there are fewer and fewer in the country that make and can make those products cheap enough to sell.

America may never be great again but one thing we need to do is secure our borders and bring back some jobs to the US. Even if we have to isolate ourselves from the other countries and forsake all trade agreements for the sake of our own prosperity.

So because it is expensive to make your clothing line here, it is perfectly OK to use slave labor in a different country?

If you want to chant "Make America Great Again", maybe they should start using American workers and factories as a sign that you believe in what you are saying. If you are just out to save money, then you don't believe American workers are worth the price to pay.
