Road Kill Love

They travel together under shadows of night.
Joined together forever in the eternal plight,
Against man, and all the terrible things,
He's made, and all the death that he brings .
At least these two will always have one another,
For their bond is eternal, there could be no other.

Cautiously they stop and scan the terrain,
They wait, although it's not good to remain,
In the same spot, immobile for too long,
Instinct's tells them it's time to move on.
They step onto the stone paved ground,
They dare not look back, no turning around.

So close, they can hear the other's heart beat,
A comforting sound as they cross the concrete.
Knowing their partner is within a safe distance,
Each there if the other needs some assistance.
They cling to that thought as they make their way,
Across the dark road, to their home by the bay.

Bright lights, loud noise, harsh smell, no choice,
He watches as the life force fades from her eyes,
He feels it, as she dies... a piece of him dies.
Takes a second for him to make the decision,
A life without her is no longer worth living,
He jumps in front of the shiny, bright lights...
Dies inches apart from his love on that night.

This is the scene that I saw driving home,
In the dead of night, by myself, all alone.
A little paw reaching out towards his lover,
Only inches apart did they die from each other.
And I wonder if there is such a possibility,
That animals know love, just like you and me.

Nicely thought out Blend, i liked it.

Beauty and Death entwined for all eternity even unto the end.

A love so insignificant to anyone but they who have chosen one another in bliss.

Like Romeo and Juliet, but in animal form and a bit messier
