The use of the term "challenge", kind of waters it down a bit....pun intended.

And yet we had no problem with The Pepsi Challenge?

The challenge is to walk a moment in the patient's shoes and make a donation, if you are able. There is currently no cure and little treatment, other than supportive. A challenging diagnosis. It's good that any progress is possible.

Peace

A challenge of five seconds that anyone is capable of and who will surely recover.

It's almost mocking.

Challenge: noun, "a call to take part in a contest or competition"

It is neither. There is no competition nor contest.

Finding a cure is a competition, and for some, a matter of life or death, ultimately. I respect your right to your opinion. People with ALS appreciated the attention and efforts by so many to help with resources for any progress. I'm not sure why it bothers you so, but for me it isn't a philosophical debate. It's personal. I have it. I won't try and defend it more, just merely say thanks to those who found it worthy of their support. No worries and I'm sorry you were offended by it.

Peace

You're putting a lot of words into my mouth.

I'm just stating the usage of the term "challenge" is misnomer. I didn't even go as far as stating the obvious, that it's a device used to entice people into believing their roles are somehow grand or great...part of a "challenge", when it actually doesn't meet the definition of the word because it is somethign other than that.

I think your personal connection has affected your rational side a bit. Don't let it bother you because it's not really your responsibility. Just break it down in analytical terms, forget the hype.
