I love how people are so smug in saying "See he lied" without even looking at the accusations. How about taking the time to go through and see if
these accusations from the Daily Beast are true?
I guess I will do it for you. I am going to go through this article’s claims of lies one by one and show them to be false. I encourage everyone to
read Trumps transcript and the ops article for themselves and see the truth. The op article will be in bold.
“Trump said that homicides increased by 17 percent from last year in the country’s 50 largest cities. He did not say, however, that the
national homicide rate hit a four-decade low last year, according to the FBI — or that the number of people murdered in the 50 largest cities has
declined by half since 1991.”
This is not a lie on Trumps part here. They acknowledge that Trumps stat is true, that it is up 17% from last year, they are just upset that he
leaves out they are down since 1991. So one Trump didn’t lie here, and second, even if they claim it is misleading (which it isn’t) why do they
use 1991 instead of when Obama took office? Trumps point is that law and order has recently broken down during the Obama administration and how they
have handled things in the past year.
“According to Politifact, Trump’s often-repeated assertion that there is no vetting system for Syrian refugees is not true. That process can
take as long as one year or more, and each refugee is interviewed by officials in the Department of Homeland Security and required to attend cultural
classes and pass a medical review.”
Trump said “She proposes this despite the fact that there’s no way to screen these refugees in order to find out who they are or where they come
from. I only want to admit individuals into our country who will support our values and love our people.” Trump is correct. He did not say there
is no vetting process, he said there is no way of knowing who they are. This has been admitted in this article
which says “FBI director James Comey
said during a House Committee on Homeland Security hearing on Wednesday that the federal government does not have the ability to conduct thorough
background checks on all of the 10,000 Syrian refugees that the Obama administration says will be allowed to come to the U.S.” “And so if someone
has never made a ripple in the pond in Syria in a way that would get their identity or their interest reflected in our database, we can query our
database until the cows come home, but there will be nothing show up because we have no record of them.”
“In light of the recent shootings of police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, Trump claimed that the number of officers killed in the line of
duty has increased by almost 50 percent year-to-year. The National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund says the number has gone up only slightly—from 62
officers through July 20 of last year to 67 killed so far this year.”
This is knit picking again. According to the Officer Down Memorial page, it is true that it went for 62 to 67. However, these numbers include things
like heart attacks, 9/11 related deaths, vehicle accidents. These aren’t attacks on police, they are natural cause or accidents. The same cite for
example says gun fire deaths of cops are up 82%, which is a far more relevant number. The exact number is hard to find, but certainly the truth is
gun attacks are substantially up against police this year, so this is not a lie.
“Turning to the world—and Clinton—Trump said the U.S. should discontinue its policy of “nation building and regime change that Hillary
Clinton pushed in Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Syria.” But Trump supported the Libya intervention in 2011, saying at the time: “At this point, if you
don’t get rid of Gaddafi, it’s a major, major black eye for this country.”
That still wouldn’t make Trumps claim a lie. By this measure, Hillary voted for Iraq, so she is always held to that. It is a fact that Obama and
Clinton have engaged in nation building.
” Trump’s dubious contentions are not limited to law and order issues. The billionaire businessman claimed 14 million people “left the
workplace entirely.” For context, the current workforce has 4.6 million more people than in 2009. He criticized Obama on the national debt, claiming
it doubled. It has actually increased from $11.1 trillion to $19.2 trillion.”
Again, they acknowledge that what Trump said was true, 14 million have left the work force. They just say there are other facts weren’t mentioned.
As for the debt, Trump said the debt “nearly doubled” which 11.1 trillion to 19.2 trillion is nearly doubling, also true.
“Trump also suggested that Clinton is responsible for the creation of ISIS in the Middle East—even though the group did not formally split from
al Qaeda until after she left office. He suggested that sanctions on Iran decreased during her tenure in government; in fact, they
He merely said before Hillary, ISIS didn’t exist, and afterwards they now have a foothold. Is the article really so naïve to believe that just
because the formally announced right after her departure makes this a lie? He is saying her policies allowed it to be created. It is true it
wasn’t there before her, and it is afterwards.
He also never claimed Hillary decreased sanctions, he said Iran was choked by sanctions before her, and is on the path to nukes afterwards. This
again isn’t a lie.
“Additionally, he incorrectly stated that Egypt was “turned over” to the Muslim Brotherhood, “forcing the military to retake control.”
Mohammed Morsi, the former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, was democratically elected in 2012 and ousted from power by the military one year
This one is really funny, because it answers itself. During Hillary’s tenure the Muslim brotherhood one an election, or as Trump would put it, was
handed leadership, and the military had t take control one year later. I assume they have a problem with the phrase “handed over” but what did
they think Trump met, that Hillary personally took out the leadership and then pronounced the Muslim Brotherhood leaders. The phrase handed over is
the same you here when people say the US handed over control of Iraq to ISIS by pulling out. Again not a lie.
That’s it. Not one of these supposed “lies” is actually a lie. Now this is the important part. Look at how many claims made in his speech.
These people spent all day trying to make this speech out to be a lie, and they could only come up with a few examples that they were actually wrong
about. The liberal media has been saying all night that the speech contained lies, yet I haven’t seen any proven. I would take that as a
concession that all of the other claims Trump made in his speech about how bad the country is going is true.
Even CNN on Don Lemmon’s show had pundits claiming all of Trumps crime stats were lies, but then were shamed when their own fact checker showed they
were true. I can’t wait to see the Daily Beasts or CNN fact check of Hillary speeches (yeah right).
