Are there any songs you think are subpar on albums but much better when they're played live? Please post a YouTube video to both versions if possible.

I find Metallica's "Devil's Dance" to be subpar on Reload. I think it's interesting musically and lyrically, but I find it to be uninspired.

On the other hand, I'm of the opinion that "Devil's Dance" on S&M is one of Metallica's best songs.

Turn the Page by Bob Seger on the live silver bullet band was by far better than the original and another favorite of mine is "Got Me Wrong" by Alice in Chains, their MTV unplugged version is by far more enjoyable for me then the studio version.

Motley Crue is aLways better live. Sorry this is a whole concert, but the shorter live ones were recent . This is 1987.

They are from where I live. Sang with them once at a benefit.

To me, Goo Goo Dolls are the boys around the block

I find anything Metallica, Pantera, Ozzy/Sabbath, Slipknot, Zombie etc, to be MUCH better live.

As for particulars Metallica's "Fade to Black" and "One" as well as Godsmack's "Voodoo."

For live music and a big surprise, this is my choice for an amateur. I don't watch these shows, but found this by accident ion Youtube
Best showmanship.

And this one, for best overall live, EVER! and my favoite song! I was absolutely blown away. As was Simon. Found by accident as well.

I just thought I'd mention the only band I have ever heard live sound exactly the same live as they do recorded in the studio is Moody Blues. No deviation at all and sometimes right down to a single tiny bell sound. It is really uncanny actually. I almost think that is harder to do really.
Not to say I don't like how live renditions can sound. I just always thought that was pretty cool about them, and I've seen them three times, once with the orchestra. Same thing then as well.

(NY 73') No Quarter - My favorite Zep song... You could write a 2000 page essay on the philosophy behind those lyrics.

Indeed. Over the years it has become my favorite zep tune as well.

I noticed the version is different from the movie and the LP of The Song Remains The Same. I prefer the LP version, but it wasn't featured on youtube.

Plant's vocals sound a bit tired on the movie version.

Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli

This song always reminds me of losing a loved one to death.

It's a beautiful song.
