I was compared to a squirrel once by the mother of one of my friends in high school. I am small, cute and curious ( apparently), but I won't hesitate to throw things and make a racket when I feel you deserve it.

One day I was ranting about something ( possibly about how the government is hiding things from us like chupacabra and the like), and that friend said " ok Squirrelly, that's enough" and it just stuck.

I changed the spelling to make it shorter for gaming, and I spelled it wrong to be rebellious ( I'm a spelling nazi ).

Well I looked into my crystal ball so many years ago and seen that a great leader would arise from the lands of tinfoil hat conspiracies. Lo and behold the purveyor of all that was birth certificate rose out of the wilderness, the TP was unclear till only a few days ago....TRUMP PENCE.

Gotta love it when you are so right.

Oh my gosh, my Kayla was like, TV Lassie-smart. One time when we were camping in a wilderness area, my daughter and I decided to take Kayla for a hike in the woods near our campsite. We hiked and hiked until we started to get lost. I was getting a little scared, so just for the heck of it, I told Kayla "where's home, Kayla, where is it?" She looked at me, then nose to the ground, she started walking with a purpose. We followed her, cuz, what else could we do at that point? I'll be damned if she didn't lead us right back to our campsite.

Best dog ever.

My name is a reminder that everything is a lie. That nothing is presented to you for your own good. That you have been lied to and will continue to be lied to.
The fake boogeyman that hides behind every false flag.
All the lies over all of the centuries.

Natives = Savages = inquisition.
Communism = evil = Cold War
Cannabis = drugs = bad
Osama = source of problems = death
Global warming = bad = taxes
On and on

The goal = total enslavement of your selves and your children's minds.

My name = lies = Wake the F Up!!!

And *blinks*

And *blinks* again.

I got nothin'.

Hmmm, I always somehow pictured Hugh Heffner and an overdose of soft-core porn being involved somehow.

The names I wanted were taken. I also have a weird sense of humor. I like double meanings and stuff. So, those marks on the road from peeling out in your car or bike? Skid Mark. Of course then there's the other kind that you get if you don't wipe. It didn't help that I wasn't sober when I picked it.

edit on 20-7-2016 by Skid Mark because: (no reason given)

It always helps to admit you have a problem.

Sigh... and now I feel the need to tell the actual story behind my username...

In my real life I am known as Heff to most people. "Heff" is the first four letters of my last name and my first name is John. As any other Johns in the room might attest... those of us named John usually end up with nicknames rather quickly so that everyone not named John can have a way of speaking to one of us without the other 93 Johns in the room saying "What? Me John?"

So, my close friends and family tend to call me John. Most everyone else defaults to Heff organically.

In the early days of the Interwebs I went by Heff online pretty much everywhere. In fact I can remember the days when there were only a few others trying to use the moniker online and I'd wage "salt the Earth" wars against them to retain my ownership of the handle - which got to be a very time consuming process by about the mid-nineties.

I actually came to dislike the name and all of the spam and mistaken identity BS that came with it. After all, I'd already defaulted from going by "John" for the exact same reason - and it was happening all over again.

Plus I used to drunk post most weekends... so there was some self-imposed baggage attached to "Heff" as well.

One day it occurred to me that Heff had to die. A ritual sacrifice to rid myself of all the angst and stress of both the identity. An act to finally find some sort of self identity that would remain solely my own.

Thus Hefficide - literally meant as a statement of killing Heff.

Sirius B - the "Dog Star", the white dwarf companion hidden in the bright light of Sirius A. It was among the first "mysteries" I became aware of. Recent discovery, only known to modern society since the mid-late 20th century, but known for hundreds or thousands of years to prior and "primitive" civilizations, some of which also describe the orbit of a tertiary companion, Sirius C, not (yet?) known to modern astronomers.

Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, has significance in many ancient cultures, occult mystery schools and mythologies. It led me to connections to many other topics and areas of interest to me through the years, including ultimately to the one and only internet forum I participate in, ATS.

"23" has been "my number" since Ryne Sandberg (2B, Chicago Cubs) became my first "favorite player" on a sports team when I was 7 years old, followed by Michael Jordan shortly thereafter, followed again by my favorite books in high school, The Illuminatus Trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson (RIP.)

Fun thread by the way, I'm enjoying reading these
