Yea it's been a few weeks.

I work at a steel mill, and for decades we had an outside vendor stocking two sets of coffee stations in our lunchrooms. They supplied large bags of coffee, sugar, creamer, cups, stirrers, and coffee makers. It was farmers brothers coffeeThe workers used to complain about. The advertisements refered to it as a cup o gold, and thats what guys joked about.
So I wrote and printed out this little jingle for them and posted it over the coffee station.



When I was a boy,
I lived on a farm.
The work was hard,
But we slept good at night.

Now you can have Farmer Brothers too.
Have a Cup O Gold,
Its on the house.


Thye guys at work think Im a nut, but they enjoy the entertainment

Do you work with dies? I thought said that.
We have a die shop that also houses Testing. I trained in both years ago.

I started running manual and automatic saws. Moved to bigger metals and bigger saws. Got into grinders and mills. CNC Burning and now I'm a CNC machinist at a T&D shop. 15 year career so far spanning 3 shops.

That sounds like an interesting career. I love working with many kinds of machinery. This will be my 36th year at this place. Im Shop Super, but I still get out there and weld and run machines with the workers. We have a good time.

Quite the stretch, must be seeing retirement on the horizon hopefully. I was supervisor at my last shop for two years. They offered me the Foreman job (Plant Manager) but that would lock me out of overtime and I'm not the type that enjoys that kind of work. I'd rather be producing something. Left there and came here to a great raise and no OT cap!

It's good to have a proper supervisor. Can make or break the crew.

We work 12 hour shifts 2-3 days on then 2-3 days off. My employees make 8 hours straight time and 4 hours time and a half regardless if they work 40 straight time hours or not. Two days ago we had to stay over for a 1.5 hour employee mtg and safety videos, and they all made an extra hour and a half of doubletime.

I just get salary 12 hours for 13.5 hours worked

Sorry slept in this morning. Now I'm nice and rested.

Dani interview went great....they are supposed to call her back Tuesday.

AND I get to go pick up Rosie at 11. She went all night without getting sick. I will know more when I pick her up.

I went to bed early for a change and am up at a decent hour. Need breakfast and more coffee, definitely more coffee.

I've landed in the mountain state, off to meet our new puppy!
