I'm not going to work today, and it's for no better reason than because I...

I can't really explain why!

For the past few days (since last Thursday or Friday) I've had this feeling that "danger is lurking" nearby.

Although, "nearby" translates more like "monumental".

I keep having flashbacks to the summer of 1968 and the national (US) turmoil experienced then.

And to tell the truth, recent events these past few months, and especially these past few days, have done nothing to calm my fears.

I could not sleep at all last night.

I've had no caffeine of any kind since Saturday.

And just typing this post is giving me butterflies in my belly and chills up my spine.

I really hope it's just a summer "bug" of some kind.

I'm not usually this sort of "nervous Nelly", but something has got me on a razor's edge, and I don't like it.

The last time I felt this anxious was the night before the Northridge, CA earthquake years ago.

But this feels less "defined"; like maybe the threat is farther out from me geographically and/or temporally?

I have to admit that the GOP convention opening today really ramps up the Heebie Jeebies whenever I think about it.

Be safe, all.

Not an excuse I'd wish on anyone, believe me!

This is the nearest thing I can imagine PTSD to be like.

You just want to crawl into a dark hole and hide.

As to the stars, I don't really know, I've been around a while, I guess.

I've felt like this the last couple days..anxious, anticipating..something...but I have people depending on me..so I can't let them down. I just put it up to my mind telling me to be more aware and astute to my surroundings..

Thanks,

Sounds more like depression to me.

I'd like to try this excuse sometime at work but I'm afraid they would interpret it as a threat.

There's a lot of fear being pushed and sold in the world today. It's absolutely the most effective way to control a population. It's a constant effort to refuse its siren call. It's EASY to give into it. The weak offer themselves up to it. Fear is seductive. It's why people love horror movies, action adventure, suspense, extreme sports and roller coasters. It compels people to prepare for survival, build bunkers and buy insurance. People are seduced by FEAR.

But, the best way to fight it is to refuse to give into it by living your life in spite of your fear. I understand you wanting to stay home because you feel overwhelmed. Meditate, pamper yourself and then get on with your life. Yes, bad things are happening in the world. But if you give into the fear by sequestering yourself in your home, it has won and you have lost.

Be safe - and spread more love than fear.

That star count seems Way too high.

I've averaged three to four hours of sleep per night for more than a decade.

But it is Very rare for me to not sleep at all, and I have to begin to even feel the least bit sleepy.

If it wasn't for the fact that my job involves people depending on me for accuracy and attention, I'd risk going in.

But under the circumstances, and feeling as I do,

It's like there is an actual, physical force blocking me.

Never felt this before.

When the site was transferred once upon a time, there was a glitch . Look at any member that has been been around for a while
Well known reason

I have had a feeling something was going to happen for a while now. It gets stronger as the time progresses.

It may not be "something coming" but a reaction to what has happened recently?

Nice, Dallas, Louisiana

These events can really mess with the nerves.

And the open-carry issue at the GOP convention is definitely something to watch. Makes you wonder if all those people staying home and not going (including Sarah Palin - when did she ever not want the spotlight?!?) maybe they know something?

I'm feeling it too, by the way, but not to the degree you are.

Try to rest today. Sleep deprivation is no joke! Melatonin can help. So can L-Thiamine.

Peace,
AB

I seldom give in to fear.

I often rage against it.

But, through hard experience, I have learned to "trust my gut", my intuition, especially when it speaks as loudly as this.

As I said, the last time I felt as strong a "push-back"
was many years ago, and I never expected to feel that again.

ETA:

Whoa! Was just reading all your comments and got an undeniable wave of "Deja Vu".

It was the line lengths that triggered it, I think, the pattern of the lines.

Very odd.

Well I just watched an Internet video that pointed out that Dallas, Nice, the end of the Republican Convention and the end of the Democrat Convention are all at 7-day intervals.

Maybe you are correct, but only time will tell.

There was a glitch a couple of years ago that just multiplied the stars for a few members.

Stars have no merit, obviously, as some members didn't earn theirs, but received them from the ATS Gods a few years ago.
