Not much is known so far. The person at the home had threatened reporters with a gun (reporter claimed AK47) after they asked if he knew the shooter

Police have shut down the entire block and are telling residents to stay away.

Oh, lovely!

Why'd this mess have to come to MY town?

That's not a good part of town. I drive down through it to get to my kid's school and I used to drive down through it to get to work in the other side. This neighborhood has really been taking it in the shorts from the bad economy of the last seven years. I've watched it steadily crumble.

But you don't really want to have to drive through there at night sadly.

I think it's Kansas City, Missouri though. In any case, when reporters approached the door a man appeared with what looked like an AK-47?

Holy Cow. Please don't let this result in more bloodshed. We've all had Enough.

Oh dear. If all hell breaks loose, gather your loved ones and stay home, Ket.

Where is one of those pesky drone fliers everyone hates for some reason or other at when you need them?.

We need a civilian drone monitoring group in this country, to see things we are not supposed to see from a safe distance.

Oh, and it doesn't seem like so much a standoff really. Yeah, I know there were rumors of someone answering the door with an AK or whatever, skip any possibility that they may have been cleaning it or whatever and answered the door without thinking about it in his hand, or whatever.

I think it's still legal to have guns in our houses regardless of whether the Newsies got scared or not.

I'm way up north of there. I drive A LOT. We are a commuter family. Kid's school is about another 10 or 15 minutes south of that area. It's on the other side.

It is legal, but it's still not all that unusual to see the police chopper hovering as you head home, and we've been diverted a time or two because of shooting investigations in or around the highway.

I mean sure that could be the case. Seems awfully freaking unlikely dude is at the same house and just cleaning his AK and just so happens to bring it to the door with him when a reporter (stupidly) shows up.

I am waiting to see what precedents will be set in this situation.

This is all just so messed up, the person in the house may simply be grief stricken and hopefully the cops can relate to that and let them be until they cool off and calm down.

Yeah, "stupidly" is a bit of an understatement....

I would have thought the cops would have been there first anyway.

Police have blocked off another area in Kansas City

Police have E. 89th and Charlotte blocked off too in connection to Baton Rouge shootings. #KMBC #BatonRouge

twitter

The home of the shooter is still surrounded by police in a standoff.

Something strange is going on there. Police were going to hold a press conference on the connections, but cancelled it. Now the FBI is handling everything.

No press conference tonight from KCPD on Baton Rouge/ KC connection. Any and all comments will now come from FBI. #KMBC

This...is striking me as something not to be brushed off as mere loonies this time. I'm betting dollars to donuts they wandered into a domestic cell prepping for something else to follow up BR with.

Hey Ketsuko, you're local to this area, right? Can you post all the relevant area news links you can think of for us to follow?

If that's the case, I hope they're all sent to bed without having supper first.

And when I say sent to bed ... I really mean DRT nap.
