If enough of them die, they may stop volunteering to do such dangerous jobs, an then your protection will be gone as well as mine.

Really? How did New York City survive prior to 1845?

Thinking the police are going to 'protect' you is a bit naïve, they are not omnipresent. The private citizen's first line of defense should be themselves.

At large events like this one, they are most definitely required to be present. As a private citizen, I can choose not to attend, but they can't.

The cops in Dallas and Baton Rouge carried (and were better trained than you), but that didn't help them, did it? What makes you so sure it will help you?

Sounds like this was an ambush. Remember, cops go toward the problem, not away from it, just like fire fighters and first responders.

BLM is a militant group?

YEP.

Think of it as BLM is the terrorist arm of the left wing political party.

As Sunni Wahhabists is the terrorist arm of Islam.

Shouldn't matter. Guns are supposed to solve the problem.

Only the ones with metal points on the ends.

But that would have ruined the punchline.

I hope you are not suggesting that snipers target innocent civilians at a long distance.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting. Everyone who owns a gun is polite and only shoots according to acceptable gun etiquette.

And no one is calling a curfew. I just asked how that would be different.
Obviously there's some contagion of abboration going on with copy cats around the country wanting to be a part of the trend. Nut jobs who aren't afraid to die. Maybe a bit of caution isn't such a bad thing.

You call it a little caution.

I call it suspension of rights.

It's hard to believe that given our current environment, anybody would think this was other than a good idea.

Who was the military guy who went to Katrina and got things under control? He was on the news a little while ago, and he said to permit guns at the convention is the stupidest thing he's ever heard.

Me too.

Call it whatever you want. I call it common sense.

It's sad people support a suspension of any rights at all.

In my scenario I have a chance to defend myself. In your scenario I am dead.

The convention is an exception, the majority of the time they are not standing guard.

Don't worry, it's only 1%, so it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to remember that these days.

I couldn't care less actually.
My question is still how is it different from establishing a temporary curfew?

What do y'all think would've happened if the original suspect in the Dallas attack tried to take out the real shooter with the AR-15 he was carrying?
