The main reason I would like to contact a F-L-I-G-H-T Attendant is to solve my fears of flying. I would like to ask one how I can deal with take-off.

I would think a pilot would be a bit more appropriate. Or perhaps a mental health professional.

F-L-I-G-H-T attendants aren't really qualified to deal with phobias.

A pilot sits up front, where the G-force is less extreme. Flight Attendants, however, are used to walking everywhere in turbulence. Flight attendants can tend to passenger emergencies. Bro. A mental health professional? I'm scared of take off. I hate the feeling. I just want to know how I can cope with that feeling.

Mental Health reminds me of the band, Quiet Riot.

Take off was/is always difficult for me also, especially in a jet/commuter plane.

I usually use deep breathing, close my eyes, tilt my head back and go to my happy place, earbuds and chewing gum.

The chewing gum may sound odd but it helps me. Chew it hard and fast.

Good luck with the interview and conquering your fears!

Seriously, if you want to overcome your fear of flying, sit your butt on an airplane a few dozen segments. Relax and enjoy your flight.

Chewing gum... I've always heard of people using that so their ears won't pop as much. I have no problem with my ears popping, as I swallow constantly to make sure I don't get nauseated, and to calm my ears. But I should give chewing gum a try...

I'm gonna contact United for my questions.

www.united.com...
There's multiple options. Which would be most appropriate for my needs?
Company Information seems most appropriate, but which selection would I need?

Yes!
I think it helps with any nausea which in my case can be brought about by nerves. It helps as a distraction as well, just concentrating on the 'act' of chewing.

I absolutely LOVE to fly and wish that I had become a pilot when I was younger. It is odd that sometimes, something that we love so much can cause such apprehension (in my case anyway).

Perhaps company information as they deal with media relations, etc.

That would be the one that I would choose.

Let us know when/if you get your interview and what questions you asked and answers were provided.

It may make for an interesting thread!

My main issue is the roaring, and the moment when the nose lifts. I love landing. The moment when I hear the flaps lower, I feel safe for some reason.

Yeah, I'm not part of the news media... Better check another airline.

The only way to get an interview is by going via the airlines media relations department.
You will need to have a clear request in mind.

1) What you want to discuss

2) Where you will publish the interview

3) You will need to accept right of review and denial to publish by the airline.

If it is just for your own conversation, they won't great you access to a staff member.

If you have a website. newspaper or magazine that will publish your article you will have a chance to get said interview.

When requesting, please call them In flight cabin services staff.
You may get a male flight attendant, there is no way they will grant access to a female for the sake of being a female attendant.

You will be interviewing the job not the sex of the person fulfilling that job.

Goodluck.

There are specific courses you can take and depending on your airline of travel, you may get a department specifically there to point you in the right direction regarding fear of flying.

A flight attendant will not represent an airline to talk you through this. Speak to your doc1tor also.

I was also gonna ask about what in-flight emergencies they had to deal with, and some other general questions.

Don't say 'I'm just a kid'!

Kids can do some remarkable things and it could work to your advantage.

Preface your email/request with 'if I am not using the appropriate channels please direct me. Thank you in advance for any assistance that you can offer.'

Or something to that effect.
