This is an interesting quote from Erdogan in 2012, regarding frustration with the slow pace of the EU "accession" process:

en.wikipedia.org...

In September 2012, Turkish Prime Minister Erdoğan was asked by CNN if Turkey still wants to join the EU. His response: "There are 5 million Turks in Europe and 3 million Turks in Germany alone. We are a natural member of the European Union. Germany invited Turkish workers 50 years ago, however 50 years have passed and we have waited at the European Union's doorstep. No other country has experienced such a thing. We will be patient until a point. However when we cross that point, we will bring light to the situation and decide accordingly."[168]

I wonder if the Turks have decided to cut bait on the EU.

The base is on lockdown, and Turkey has closed the airspace, because some of their aircraft were involved in the coup attempt. That's normal in a coup attempt. The troops on the base aren't being held hostage by anyone.

Well, I hope they got those nukes out of there.

Or ISIS and Turkey just got incredibly powerful.

Oh, that changes everything then! The media would NEVER push an agenda, or say something that's not accurate. And he's actually physically present on the base correct? He has first hand information about it, and isn't reading it from other sources?

The troops on the base have not been taken into custody, they're not being held against their will somewhere, or anything but normal security measures taken after a coup attempt. Look at anywhere that has had a coup or an attempted coup, and you'll see the same things happening there that are happening here.

I'd like to think this is all normal, but nothing about this has been normal. Couple that with thr statements coming from Erdogons regime and I think that we're at a point that Obama needs to tell them to quit playing games....but then again I reckon people sat that golf is a game.

The hell is that drivel supposed to mean?

I'd be hard-pressed to believe any news outlet right now anyway. They're clamoring for the first lucky guess that pans out to be true. Ratings, dude. They want higher ones. Conflict is a good way to dig around for it.

You've got to be kidding right? God I love how people on ATS scream "Don't trust the media!" and then turn around five minutes later and say someone is wrong because it's all over the media.

So if the media says that a nuclear weapon detonated in Ankara tomorrow, and it's all over the media does that make them right? You do realize that most of these "media reports" are coming from the same source right? They take one source that says something and they all publish it. So they all end up saying the same thing. Just because a lot of people repeat something doesn't make it true.

This is just a normal lockdown. They had F-16s flying out of Incirlik last night involved in the coup, so of course they're going to lock the airspace down, so anything flying is theirs, and no the people involved in the coup. Guess what else flies out of Incirlik? US owned F-16s. The only way they'd be able to tell them apart is a visual inspection of the markings on them. So the chances of a shoot down are extremely high right now. Better to keep them on the ground, and not risk an incident.

What's your source?

Random guess?

And Turkish officials pulling the power? normal lockdown procedure?
Turkish officals openly blaming the USA for involvement?
surely not in the script.

Again, they had people involved in the coup flying out of the base last night. Cutting the power can prevent the tower from operating, and limits what they can do at the base.
