I think its fair to assume, keeping in mind the commander of the base was lead off in handcuffs,
and similar to reports of the coup soldiers stating "they were told it was an excersize",
the commander's subordinate's (including US personnel) had indeed unwittingly contributed to the coup.
Difference being, the soldiers outside the base were arrested and charged with treason.
Power is still not restored to the base, there is no movement of goods in or out.

I think Russia would do this before the US would. After all Russia thinks they own the entire Black Sea and if Turkey shut the straights to Russia, Russia wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

But it wouldn't be "Turkey shutting the straits' would it?

It would be combat elements of the US NAVY.

The Turkish commander doesn't command US troops. They have a local commander that controls the base, but there's also a US commander that commands the US forces, and liaises with the local commander. The Turkish commander can't order US troops in any way.

If a crime(coup) of this scale and sophistication can occur under the noses and unbeknownst to 2000+ US personnel tasked with guarding 50 nuclear warheads, they should be removed from their posts for dereliction of duty, the Base swept and abandoned.
it's inconceivable that US officers and servicemen were not aware of the coup.

You condemn the US if we get involved in another country's internal affairs and now you condemn the US if they don't.

Please make up your mind.

it's inconceivable that US officers and servicemen were not aware of the coup.

Even if that were true they were never authorized to do anything about it.

I admit i don't think it was fair for me to single out the USA , as the British and Germans also use the base, but the USA is the largest occupier and operator.
Why blame me,it's Turkey that is condemning the US:
The Turkish government cut the power to the base..
"The US is behind the coup attempt"
A Turkish government minister has accused the United States of planning Friday night’s failed attempt to overthrow Turkey’s government
