Why Do Some People Believe RH Negative Blood to be "special"

I'm O negative, as are my parents and brother, we all have blue eyes. My husband is positive with brown eyes, our son positive with blue eyes. I once woke from an operation and in recovery the first thing the nurse said to me was that I have a special rare blood, not a hello? How are you doing? Which was odd. So I've been fascinated since then really.

I dont think I'm at all special, but I have felt different to other people all my life, I've never felt like I've fitted in anywhere, not school, work, family. Its more like a black sheep type of feeling to me. I would describe myself as an introvert, but I'm happy to be.
