Erdogan has to be wondering about where the rest of NATO was at? Some tepid support from Obama and Kerry they are hoping to be rid of him.I support the coup forces against this petty little dictator.

Tepid is right... in the face of frustrations with Turkey in regards to battling ISIS...

I could go on a rant, but I won't... I just hope we aren't once again being pushed towards conflict, because folks in charge say it's time!

YMMV.

Something else that's bugging me.

How is the police fighting on an even level as the military ?

Doesn't sound right.

Reuters: Loud explosion at ATATURK Airport.

E's plane?

Shizzle's gettin' real if it is.

Not seeing the military back down yet. Tanks still rolling, which means soldiers still following orders from the chain of command. Who's in charge I wonder?

It doesn't take a lot of people to be able to do all of that...In my opinion, it's perfectly doable with a hundred or so people...

Well, I did say "not sure how accurate that is" as a caveat - it's not me claiming it by the way, I'm not the Chief of Police in Istanbul.

I was actually saying exactly the same to you to my guys at work - it would take more than a single Colonel and a company of men to field what we have seen on the streets tonight.

Ankara parliament building 'bombed from air'

I think there is more than 100 soldiers involved. I have a feeling a lot of what we are hearing about this being over is state propaganda. Lets wait and see what happens.

For the one's who surrendered, they were surrounded and probably outnumbered.

And it also seems there are at least other elements of the Military who don't support the coup, the Air Force have shot down an Army helicopter for example.

But it's been reported that Erdogan purged the military months before.

Going to be worse if he 'wins'.

The Turkish people lose.

Is there a consensus on who is behind it? What its about?

I'm a total ignoramus on Turkish politics.

He's been purging them for years - he had around 100 Generals dismissed a few years back for alleged coup plotting.

My suspicious mind can't help but think about what kind of "coup" doesn't seek to neutralize the ruler in power.

Staged to fail?

We're gonna hear a lot of talk about "democracy" over the next few days.
