Please, can we stop starting sentences with the word "And".
Once in a blue moon yeah, but c'mon people it's annoying as f*$% & isn't necessary, generally.

English is your second language? Knock yourself out then...I'm not completely unreasonable.

I'm not a grammar nazi, as my grammar is not great, I may be a spelling & correct word nazi though
(It's a basic tenet of something, not a tenant).

Perhaps I should take up nicotine again, look at what being free from the stuff has turned me into!

I tend to end sentences with prepositions.
I need to work on that.

And so it begins. . . . .

You aren't free from you, just your addiction to tobacco.

Welcome to the real you.

Sometimes it is a sentence in itself:
"And.....?".
I'll let that one slide.

May as well add on that it isn't "should of" or "could of" or "would of", but rather it is "should have", "could have" and "would have". I see so many making this mistake.

Actually, most writing styles find nothing wrong with starting a sentence with a conjunction. I do it all the time.
But if you hate it, you hate it and that's OK.

Source

The one that bothers me? Saying "different than" instead of "different from". An English teacher here once corrected me for that and I got really pissed and chewed her out! LOL! But now that I understand the difference, I can't stand to hear "different than" anymore!

"Different Than" vs "Different From"

Of ALL possible subjects of rant topics to choose from in todays tumultuous times, you choose a thread about the misuse of the word "and"?

We must set our priorities.

And what difference does it make?

I don't like this phrase: "Same difference".
Maybe it is acceptable, but I just don't like it.

It does truly irk me. I find it utterly pointless in most cases, linguistic technicalities notwithstanding.
I do also have beef with "different than" & "different to".

Don't get me started, the list will be endless.

When a bunch of words that were out for a walk one night spontaneously demonstrated.

Same difference, but it's not really different than.

ETA: I deleted my original comment because it is totally off topic and probably very inappropriate... I'll send you a PM instead...

My apologies.
