Don't go blaming the Atheists and claim the Religious to be pacifists either. One is no better than the other. Men murder, period.

While some may follow "Love thy Enemy" the others follow "An eye for an eye" and "Righteous Judgement of the Wicked". Governments are starting wars over resources and land but they use Religion as the vehicle to move the masses. The inquisition was based on Religion as were many other purges of the wicked and evil.

Take the "United States of Go to War" like in your example. Calling them Pacifists or Atheists is way off. This nation has been a majority of Christians forever up until just recently. It's still majority Christian but the numbers are now going down a bit for the first time ever. They are responsible for killing the Natives, the Slaves and even themselves in one conflict after another.

The Christian churches don't have soldiers, guns, bombs, tanks, jet fighters or other warfighting stuff. The US does and is constantly at war with someone or other.

The US and most of it's Officials are all Christian though. So they don't need an army for the churches, they just use the US military. Just like the old song goes, "Onward Christian Soldier".
