Saw a very interesting article in the NYT this morning. Police are more likely to use physical measures against blacks than whites. But the study concluded there was no racial bias in shootings.

“It is the most surprising result of my career,” said Roland G. Fryer Jr., the author of the study and a professor of economics at Harvard. The study examined more than a thousand shootings in 10 major police departments, in Texas, Florida and California.

This data is from one city. I don't think we can draw a conclusion from that little information.

A more fundamental question still remained: In the tense moments when a shooting may occur, are police officers more likely to fire if the suspect is black?
To answer this question, Mr. Fryer focused on one city, Houston.

It sits in a stronger position. The other side must prove discrimination, it is not the default position.
