Why is the KKK not a formally recognized terrorist org:

I don't think at this point, I would. While there are certainly individuals within each group who may have carried out activities which would legally classify them as domestic terrorists there is nothing in the law which would seem to make it applicable to the group.

Guilt by association...not sure we want to go there.

Here you go, 1870.

In 1870 a federal grand jury determined that the Klan was a "terrorist organization".

Now there are just a bunch unafilliated goofballs using the name,

They are trying to change that. I could post the proof of such, but I'm not sure if posting it is against the TOS of ATS, but just search for Georgia Peach Oyster Bar April meeting. There is a Huffington Post piece about them uniting to start a "race war"

Exactly.

Excellent point.

Or 1869 according to this site with original documents.

In 1869, a federal grand jury declared the Ku Klux Klan to be a terrorist organization. In January 1871, Pennsylvania Republican senator John Scott convened a committee, which took testimony from witnesses about Klan atrocities. In 1872, the U.S. Congress published the 13 volume "Report of the Joint Select Committee Appointed to Inquire in to the Condition of Affairs in the Late Insurrectionary States." Historians often referred to these volumes as the KKK Testimony.

When is the DHS going to criminalize free speech?

posted on Jul, 10 2016 @ 09:39 PM

A brief answer is they are not a terrorist group nor are they racially motivated but have a belief based on mind body spirit and character while knowing the vast differences between each including face which is a far cry from those who create copies of people for sexual purposes amongst other deceptive agendas yet amongst those are another misunderstood group doing what they do for nothing other that genuine compassion.
So basically who they are is a small quiet group who stand for and against those who haven't noticed.

Do you wish for such a thing?

What does that have to do with the topic at hand?

Edit:

Intrepid beat me to it.

Sorry. But isn't this thread stem from a desire to criminalize BLM just because they say things people may mot like?

So the OP asked why not the KKK.

Both groups express themselves. Free expression is guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.

There are already laws that would punish either group if they infringed on the rights of anyone else.

I'll leave the thread.

You all can go about finding ways to step on free expression.

G'nite.

Love free speech. Just wish that it would be on topic at times. Random crap really muddies a topic.

I think it is very much "on topic".

Morons are trying to criminalize BLM just because of the content of their speech.

And now the KKK?

According to the FBI:
"Domestic terrorism" means activities with the following three characteristics:

Involve acts dangerous to human life that violate federal or state law;

Appear intended (i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; (ii) to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or (iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination. or kidnapping; and

Occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of the U.S.

Yup, that describes BLM perfectly but they are so far protected by the mountains of cash Soros organizations throw at them, when they are not dining in the White House with the divider in chief.

But but but the KKK killed people, according to my link as late as 1968 , so it's not just a content of their speech, hey!!..waitaminute I was alive then, so it's not that far back.
Argument could be made that they are quiet on the killing front but, the generation that proceeded mine is still very anxious of them, and thanks to Deny Arrogance for the links, and the different phases they went through.

The original Black Panthers were formed to protect against the govt, not the KKK.

In October of 1966, in Oakland California, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale founded the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense.
The Panthers practiced militant self-defense of minority communities against the U.S. government, and fought to establish revolutionary socialism through mass organizing and community based programs.
