They fire on NON PEACEFUL CROWDS and WITH NON-LETHAL AMMUNITION. They cant just mow down a entire crowd of rioters with Lethal ammunition(at least in the US)

But everybody in the crowd is not "non-peaceful".

In fact, the common police tactic is to infiltrate the peaceful crowd with a few "planted" non-peaceful agitators, break a few shop windows, burn a few cars, to give police the excuse to treat the whole crowd in a "non-peaceful" manner. This allows the police to disperse the crowd forcibly.

WHY only one I wonder?
Did his bigotry show?

He was removed for harassing a female soldier. Not dishonorably discharged, but removed from the service.

Why?

I am not a trained soldier.

I still have a problem with the idea of killing people.

Do you realize that most soldiers were once civilians too, that had this same difficulty.

They need lots of training in "discipline" to overcome the psychological shock of killing another human.

This guy had 6 years training before being posted to Afghanistan.

He was a disciplined soldier. He executed his plan efficiently.

To us, in the civilian population, it seems just "crazy".

It is crazy to us, who have no training. So, we have to justify it some way that makes sense, by calling the guy various names, "psycho", "crazy", "moron", "sick", "disturbed", "bigoted"... or whatever makes us feel good, and justified in our own righteousness.

Few people bother to try to see things from the other person's point of view.

Why on earth did he think that the police killing some other black guy in America, had anything to do with him?

Was it his cousin? Was it his blood brother? What's the connection?

What makes any individual "feel" that they are members of any particular "group"?

Was he a Black American or an American Black?

Hmm, a trainrd killer......
he was a 12w..carpenter mason. Builds the huts and buildings troops stay in, along with other building structures...

An fir those that haven't been in the military... Says he was a 'decorated soldier' ...with ' army achievement medal' ..every soldier will eventually get that be for they reach 'specialist' rank.

He was a ' military trained marksman'.... Every soldier receives a' marksman' badge at basic training. In my day ' marksman' was 24-26 out of 30, 27 and up was ' expert marksman'.

Once again, the media uses the ignorance of the masses to hype some one up....ain't buying what there are selling

That's because as civilians, you and I have the luxury of being able to whine about how other people do the jobs they volunteer for precisely because those people do those jobs.

If this country ever is invaded or collapses into widespread civil war or rebellion, you and I both will likely lose that luxury just like the people in Iraq did. That is the nature of war, and we will have to make decisions on a survival footing, not an armchair one.

This guy showed some tactical skills far beyond what I would expect from someone in his MOS. There are tons of non-combat arms MOSs that barely touch their rifles after basic. Many of them only shoot twice a year at a known distance range. I'm sure he had some extended tactical training before going to Afghanistan, but it wouldn't have been anything like what an infantryman, cavscout, artilleryman, tanker, or combat engineer would have gotten. You can even see a different level of tactical skill between people with the same mos and same time in service depending on what type of unit they were attached to. A mechanic who has been in an infantry battalion would most likely be much more tactically proficient than a mechanic who had been attached to a logistics battalion. These are of course generalities.

Marksman is the lowest qualifying score on a range then sharpshooter then expert. I usually don't listen to all the conspiracy theories about multiple gunmen, but I'm more than a little distrustful of the official story here. These aren't dead civilians. This is 17+ dead and wounded who were armed, returning fire, and maneuvering against him. I don't know how many were hit in the initial contact, I concede he might have got several grouped up in the initial salvo. That one video with him beating a trained police officer by movement, cover, and "pieing of a corner" shows someone with more tactical skill than I would think someone in his MOS would have.

I don't know what to think really, I doubt the Official Story here more than any other recent mass shooting.

Dallas Shooting Suspect Micah Xavier Johnson Had Rifles, Bomb-Making Materials in His Home, Police Say

The suspected gunman in an attack on police officers in Dallas -- which left five cops dead and seven injured -- had bomb-making materials, ballistic vests and rifles in his house, police said.
...
Johnson, a private first class, was deployed to Afghanistan from November 2013 to July 2014, according to his service record. His former employer, Jeppi Carnegie, CFO of Touch of Kindness LLC, said Johnson had worked for the residential health care company since January 2015. He worked from his mother's home in Mesquite and cared for his 21-year-old brother, Carnegie told ABC News.

Carnegie described Johnson as a "good employee" and a "family man" who loved his younger brother. The company never had any issues with Johnson and was always volunteering to work more hours.

Although Carnegie said it was aware that Johnson was, in his words, "pro-black," he said wasn't aware of his employee's having any affiliations with civil rights groups. He added that he was "surprised and disappointed" when he found out Johnson was a suspect in the Dallas ambush.

Carnegie was on duty as a fireman at last night's protests in Dallas, he said, and didn't find out Johnson was a suspect until Carnegie's mother called him Friday morning.
...
The suspect "wanted to kill officers" and "expressed anger for Black Lives Matter," Brown said.

"None of that makes sense," Brown said.

The suspect also said he was not affiliated with any groups and that he was acting alone, Brown said.

Dallas police said this afternoon that Johnson had no criminal history. Police said "others have identified him as a loner."
...
While three suspects -- two men and one woman -- were detained by police after the shootings, the mayor said today they have since been released.

Two law enforcement sources told ABC News that police have found no connection between Johnson and the three people detained during the overnight shootings.

His employer provides assistance to mentally retarded children and adults.

I wonder what happened with this guy...

I have no idea what you mean by "value."

But, usually people become part of a group because of "treatment".

A man doesn't look into the mirror and say to himself, "I'm black", therefore I must join the african americans.

He gets exposed psychologically throughout his life in interactions with his environment that gives him clues about what group the society thinks he belongs to.

I would look into the reason this soldier was sent back home, for example, as the most recent example of experience of something that happened to him that could help shape his view about who he is. Did he feel he was unjustly accused of harassment? Did he feel that because he was black, he got unfair treatment, and nobody took his side of the story? These are the triggers that help shape the individuals opinion about his own identity. These are the things that could enable him have "empathy" with the experiences of others who are connected to him by some factors.

It was reported, at one point, that the officer put a round in his back and possibly front but his body armor stopped the rounds. With out it, it may have ended much sooner.

As always, that report is open to whether it was the reality.

I figured it was the "shoot for largest area of body". This incident might lead to different tactics which of course may mean less chance of surviving and arrest.

People will end up in an uproar.

You say profiling works. I don't know what you mean by that.

But, I can see that profiling would "create" these guys.

So, it's a self-fulfilling validation. Profile the black, get him angered at his mis-treatment, create the hostility, then arrest him for being belligerent, and "viola" it's no mystery that you can claim 80% success for that strategy.

The shots that rang out in Dallas tells the story quite clearly.

Remember when the crooks in body armor made such a big deal in California?
Now police will have to become like a military patrol.
