To scenes of cuddly pandas, spewing smokestacks and goose-stepping soldiers holding aloft a Chinese flag, the English-language music video for “This Is China” begins with a mission to “restore the impression you have of my country, China, which have been [sic] exactly fabricated by media for such a long time.” The offending media, in case it isn’t clear, are foreign, says Chuckie, whose real name is Wang Zixin. “I would like to tell Westerners that young people in China are not foolish,” the 22-year-old recent college graduate tells TIME. “We know the good and bad in China. It is just that some problems cannot be solved immediately. I want to change Westerners’ stereotypes about us.” Although the rap song was the brainchild of Wang’s ensemble CD Rev — lyrics by Pissy (no, seriously) and beats by Chuckie — the music video was produced with help from a studio run by the Communist Youth League of China.

Despite the headline is it the most painful or cringe worthy Rap ever?? yes propaganda it is...-

but so is this guy who tours U.S bases and ships, well some might say rap was meant to be anti establishment , and in a sense that's true but rap have many different sub janras so the Chinese govt and local artist pumping up their nation through pop music is ironically very American.
The Rap in this case did take ownership of some of negative aspect of Chinese society, so at least give them that and coming from a bunch of capitalist commies not bad , the test will come if they tackle Tiananmen Square or Tibet,then again no government body like putting it's dirt out there on pop culture, music or movies.

Every time we get good propaganda everyone follows. Who cares if it is cringe worthy. That is actually good for us. Especially the part where we have #ty movies in America. What would the Nazi's do? They would have banned all movies and release the good ones for propaganda usage. If you don't know the bad, you won't know the good.

Propaganda do have it's value, but the Times report was throwing some heavy shade here in a non wartime vid meant to be seen as balanced by Chinese view.

Got to love a bit of peacetime propaganda!

It is an interesting turn for them to be admitting the mistakes - yes we poisoned all those babies and now they are malnourished....and possibly going to die - and then stating that all the other countries did it first.

They must have a new PR team brought in to the Gov sector. Possibly monitored by comments on social media, to get the feel of how younger Chinese nationals feel about China, and how other countries do.

Feels a bit like the Christian rock trick to me: Luring you in with a nice sounding song and then smacking you over the head with a bible
