...... shaking my head....... I'll never understand most religions, but that one is up there. My sons paternal grandmother is a JW and I just don't understand their guidelines and values.

How could anyone destroy history like that, it's beyond me. There are lots of things lots of old tribes, etc.... did or practiced that I wouldn't do, or wouldn't agree with, but its HISTORY, its EDUCATIONAL............ ugh.

There guidelines is to annit me at airports and ringing my doorbell. I used to be nice about it but since some days I got two a day those days are long gone. They at least need to coordinate and not knock doors in thr same neighborhood.

I had some come to my door about year ago and I told them I have a church, and wasn't interested in changing. They were very nice and as they turned to leave a lady asked "do you mind if we come back another time?", and I told her probably not. I don't see my position changing. They haven't come back.

I don't like being rude to people. They were polite and so was I. No harm done.

If I had to choose which person I wanted to be, one who knocks on a strange door to offer someone something maybe inspirational to read, or one who wants to sharpen a knife, drink a beer in someone's face, or blow cigarette smoke in someone's face, I would choose the former.

I haven't much interaction with them except like Mormons they like ringing my door bell usually when I am trying to nurse a hangover.

You should invite them in and ask them about why YHWH lives in the Pleiades and why he hasn't upgraded his flying chair from rocket power since the 1930s, tenets of the faith from the Watchtower, doesn't hurt to have some hard core gay BDSM porn on the telly while you chat either...

It takes about five seconds for them to put you on the "do not call under any circumstances list" when they start losing members

I would refuse both suggestions. I won't go knock on anyone's door to try to sell them something they didn't ask for. And I won't put on that show I came up with above. It was just a musing for BFFT. I'm a tiny little white lady with a vivid imagination.

I actually kind of pity them -
and on a personal level I have known a few in my work, and have been able to talk to them, even ask about their religion and listen politely. The thing that's impertinent is when door-knockers are intruding on my time and space. if you don't tell them no they keep coming back. That's why one must be firm.

Just to make myself very clear, angeldoll, I am a kind and nice person with good manners, and am very friendly and receptive. Religious fervor is really the only thing that gets me riled up - and I am fully aware that I am active in dissing religion. It is my vice, if you like. I think religion is a pox on humanity, and it's the ONLY THING I rail against. If people don't bring it up, I don't either. When it gets brought up, I get icky. I seem to have a calling to disabuse people of religion.

Jesus didn't teach any of that rot -- and it's high time that humanity got with the real program - which is The Golden Rule.
All else is uncalled for and I will argue against it until the day someone can prove it to me.

I'm no "materialist", either. I believe in psi and the unseen world.... I even believe in 'angels' and the soul being a thing that carries on after death - but all that negative stuff that comes from religion - telling people they are worthless and they have the only method that works and 'you'd better get your ticket now to avoid hell!!!' is counterproductive at best, and actually destructive in most cases.

Real messengers of the truth are not pushy. When someone is pushy, that's a give-away that they are acting out of insecurity themselves. I could, but simply REFUSE to tolerate such imposition and intrusion upon my self. It's none of my business what people worship until they start publicizing it and demeaning other people, and then I will speak up. I love Pope Francis, by the way. He's awesome. He and the Dalai Lama. My heroes.

Are you aware that the Hebrews admitted that they made up Angels when they were the slaves of the Babylonians and that all the angel names originated in Babylon. Babylon, a culture which doesn't feature Angels in its mythology

Its what happens when a monotheistic culture is enslaved by a polytheistic one, the slaves have to adopt at least a part of their owners culture to survive...

This got me laughing. Jehovah's Witnesses have never picked up a gun, never gone to war, and certainly don't go around destroying things. They don't get involved in protests, in strikes, they don't get involved in rebellions.

All over the world they are imprisoned for refusing to participate in warfare. There are many countries where Jehovah's Witnesses are in prison right now, for doing nothing wrong but refusing to join the army.

Places like South Korea, where enrollment in the military is mandatory every Jehovah's Witness goes to prison when they come of age when they conscientiously refuse to pick up arms to fight, viewing it as morally wrong in Jehovah God's eyes.

What is more ludicrous than these propogandic lies being spread (like they always are) is how many gullible fools believe them, hook line and sinker.

ETA:

Anyone really wanting to know the truth about them can visit their website, which BTW is the most translated website on planet earth (over 750 languages):

JW.ORG

Read about their beliefs and see what they are doing in action. I have been studying this religion. And it is the true religion on earth. I am not one but I know I want to be one in the future.

More info here
www.snopes.com...

The Jehovah's witnesses responsible are apparently recent converts who destroyed the same altars that they used to worship at

That's very believable in my book, recent converts to any cause are usually fervent

I would believe the Jehovah's Witnesses denial of it, and not the false religion people who are lying about them.

Jehovah's Witnesses view it as a sin to lie, and you'd be hard pressed to find one that is a liar or who would lie pubcially. They know Jehovah doesn't like it.

That link you gave me doesn't prove they did it, in fact the Jehovah's Witnesses they obviously interviewed or have received information from have denied the allegations. Also, there is no proof. And since Jehovah's Witnesses have a very long track record of not involving themselves in political or any other dispute on earth, I would tend to disbelieve the claims of the religionists.

Again they have a track record over a century and in hundreds of countries of being peaceful and refusing to fight. In WWI and WWII no Jehovah's Witness killed a single person. In fact all through-out these last days in which we live Jehovah's Witnesses as a whole are the only religion all around the world that refuse to harm anyone else. They refuse to "learn war anymore" and are united worldwide with the one religion of truth based on God's word.

Even God's word says that everyone will know Jesus' true followers by the love and harmony and unity they have among each other world-wide, and that they would be united with the same teaching of truth from the Bible.

No other religion can even come close to displaying the love and unity Jehovah's Witnesses do.

In any event that link did not convince me of anything other than a smear campaign going on. It will back-fire though. It always does.

More people will learn about who Jehovah is because of this.

There are people on this thread alone who don't know who Jehovah is.

It is what it is. Peddling nonsense and going about wrecking things that aren't yours is not good ever - thanks for your thoughts. Won't engage you further.

Was not aware of that. Thanks. I don't believe in the ones named in the Bible, nor do I think they are winged creatures. I also don't believe that when people die they get a halo and wings and a harp and float about on clouds. All of that is nonsense.

The "angels" I speak of are not described anywhere in monotheism.

I wouldn't. Jehovahs witnesses are just the same as the rest of us, prone to human behaviour
Would you like me to furnish you a list of violent crimes, which includes murdering children and serial killing committed by Jehovahs witnesses before you admit you're wrong...

Still why you are here, could you help me out, I was wondering why YHWH hasn't upgraded from the basic rocket motor on his flying chair which he used to travel here from the Pleiades when he created the earth
Can you tell me, is he just anachronistic or just a really crap mechanic...

It takes a lot of courage to knock on doors when you don't know what lies behind them. Along with Mormons, their religion suggest they do this. I admire them for their courage, and I am always polite to them. There is no reason to be ugly. If I'm busy, I tell them so, wish them well, and they go away. If it's hot, I offer a cold bottle of water.

Being ugly accomplishes nothing except making other humans feel bad.

I used to be a JW, but I disassociated myself from them when they wanted me to leave my husband.

So then I started researching into their history, not good.

They also I hear have some shady stuff going down right now

I'm not nor have I ever been a Jehovah Witness, and I don't plan to be. My concern is not what they believe. My concern is being openly rude and conducting behavior that is verbally abusive to a person who is doing no harm except to maybe inconvenience someone, or be annoying. They are easy to get rid of in my experience. I've never had cause to be rude to them. Same with Mormons.

JW isn't a religion at all though. It is a cult. Plain and simple. Doesn't mean they are bad people or good people to me. Mormon is also a cult. Anything that rewrites Jesus so he suits their own desired belief system is a cult. Not a religion.

And that, darling girl, is the issue. It is exactly the issue. They are doing harm! You just don't see it.

Speaking with a sugary tone and knocking on doors to tell someone they are a piece of crap -------- and furthermore that having a Christmas tree or a birthday party will result in eternal damnation ---------------------------
honey, that is verbal and emotional abuse. That is brainwashing.

THAT^^^ is verbal abuse.
