I know...I know.... cliché at best. The Rat Pack is one of America's most beloved groups of all time (sans the new generation knowing nothing about them!)

I am wondering what you favorite "old timey song" is to date so I can add it to my collection.

Thank you in advance.

Literally came home an hour ago with a new lp from value village. 99 cents for a near mint Dean Martin "I take a lot of pride in what I do" album.

Not one song have I ever heard. Every single one is audible gold.

Good thread. Nice to find some levity

Oh shoot. I played in a 15 piece big band in collage (late 90's / Early 00's). So this list will predate the Rat pack.

1st. Any Cab Calloway.

String of Pearls
In The mood
It had to Be You
big noise from winnetka
Harlem Nocturne
Stomping at the Savoy

I'm drawing a blank for the rest of our set list at the moment. But you can find similar on you-tube.

Post Rat pack;
You have
Big bad Voodoo daddy
The Dutch Falconi orchestra
Caravan Palace

All doing homage to the music that was.

Here's a good one that flies under the radar, The Oldest Established (Permanent Floating Crap Game In New York):
