Hadn't they already ridden people for years about not doing it because of the eggs? Or am I the only person who remembers that?

It's almost like they are on a crusade to stamp out cookie dough for some reason.

That is probably where it came from. My mother would always say it, but let me have a little and then say 'that's enough!'. Same thing I did with my daughter. I wouldn't give raw cookie dough to a baby. I probably didn't let my daughter 'lick the spoon' until she was older than 3.

Do you eat raw potatoes? I have never heard a warning about that, but how could they possibly taste good?

BREAKING: Obama issues executive order on cookie dough.

Conservatives are outraged fearing Obama is coming for raw steaks next.

Liberals are doing a sit in, protesting the cookie dough loophole

Meanwhile educators are developing classes to teach women and children about the dangers of cookie dough

Now I have to go down and make some cookies. We haven't had any cookies in the house for a while now.

Now I am wondering if it is a conspiracy to outrage people enough to go out and buy from scratch ingredients or mixes (most require an egg, and butter). Or at least get people thinking about how good cookie dough is and subliminally cause them to crave it. LOL

Enough people could be like "Damn you FDA, I WILL have cookie dough."

My dad does that. It always struck me as Old School and Hard Core, lol.

(I'm still eating raw cookie dough.)

Raw potatoes can contain a sort of microbe that can cause us harm. There are warnings about that. It is killed by stomach acid though.

On the flip side, raw potatoes can kill cancer cells, there are a couple of chemistries in it that do work. Seen the research on that chemistry. So you can get some infection yet you lower cancer risk. I was told as a kid to not eat raw potatoes, we had a potato farm. A little won't kill you, just don't be eating a lot of them.

Cooked potatoes retain some of the cancer prevention chemistry but some is lost in the process. That microbe doesn't handle heat well, so eating them partly done is best. Lumpy mashed potatoes are better for you than whipped mashed potatoes.

My only point is they have a job to come out say those things, sorry that it bugs you that they do it.
Ironic really.

Yeah, that's what my friend said who ate raw oysters. After she got home from the hospital, she told me the pain and suffering was waaaaaay worse than natural childbirth. She eats oysters now (it took about 5 years before she even wanted to), but only when they're cooked. After what happened to her, I eat my oysters cooked too.

I grew up eating raw cookie dough, and licking the spoon from mixing cake batter. However, because I am petrified of food borne illnesses, I don't anymore and I don't let my kids either. But, it was always because I was worried about raw egg, not flour: now I get to fret over something extra!
