I can't say I agree with the OP, except liking individualism and hoping for a strong, thriving middle class steeped in individual freedoms, eventually
leading to a "classless" true meritocracy with handouts to the less meritorious to keep heads on shoulders.
I am curious where this revelation about Bernie being out to create (more of) a slave class comes from? When did he show his true stripes, according
to what you've gleaned?
As I see it, in veeeery general terms, education was 'defunded' and marginalized (or started in earnest) under a label of small government "right" or
conservative, under Reagan, and so hurting the middle class and social mobility, though the "left" via knee-jerk globalism and wavering on their
progressive and humanist creed holds some blame as well, primarily under Clinton...
though the "right's" "small government" amounts to small when speaking of education and social services, and immense for defense and corporatism.
And as for Bernie, I believe anyone actively seeking power is "off" but he seems to like humanity and at least speaks like he has his priorities
straight... and it should be remembered that socialistic programs created that much missed 'strong middle class' in the first place, and both left and
right have valid, realistic views that get buried in team fervor and vitriol.
These days, the only teams are all of us, against the few of them.
