Ask yourself, is that a question or a statement or the beginning of an idea with 3 periods after it???

You wouldn't know what to think because we can't properly punctuate thread titles, which is an essential function of the english language.

I get that you're trying to stop me from including hashtags in my thread titles because that would cause chaos but there has to be a better way mods.

I just added your question mark.

ETA: FYI, they just don't appear in the recent posts page, your characters will appear in actual threads.

a reply to: tothetenthpower Whoa! That is cool to know! I had just wondered why any punctuation didn't appear in a title. Thank you!

Half my threads have semi-colons in the title (if they are part of a series), and those don't get displayed on that page either. Looks very odd.
Isn't this a new development? I'm sure there never used to be a problem with punctuation marks.

Somehow you managed to get commas into your signature, which has never worked for me.

It sucks. My sig makes it look like I don't write good.

Yes, it's quite irritating not being able to do proper sentences in signatures.

That's why I ended up just having an image. I like to look like I write superb.

Commas in signatures worked until the site re-vamping of autumn 2010. They don't display in new signatures created since that time. Existing signatures like mine were not affected, though I'm sure my commas would be lost if I tried to change it.
Somebody came up with a work-around based on writing in codes.

Are you sure? I think I changed my sig after that.

I checked the page source and I thought it was because your sig started with a quotation mark, but that wasn't it.

Come on. Out with it!

Or are you one of "them?"

There was a lot of discussion on the point at the time, once the "commas" problem became evident. There was at least one thread on this Business forum. If we do a search, we might discover those complaints, and perhaps also the work-around that someone came up with.

This one is 2012, but I don't think it's the first mention;
Commas in signatures

2011; Why no punctuation in signatures?

This one was probably the first; December 2010
How come I can't have commas?

Workaround successful. Replace commas with & # 4 4 ; (no spaces) and they'll show up in your signature.

I also find it very annoying that I can't punctuate properly in my signature line, for example.

What's up with that ATS staff? The lack of availability for punctuation makes us all look like simpletons who can't use grammar properly..!!

Replace commas with & # 4 4 ; (no spaces) and they'll show up in your signature. It's fairly silly that this is necessary, but it is at least successful.
