Another unConstitutional ploy by Democrats.

I bet they end up getting laughed out of court.

Global Warming is a POLITICAL BELIEF.

That's absurd.

There are already laws against fraud. What this does is target a belief that many have and a desire to punish those that don't share that belief.

Actually it's because of idiots being unable to grapple the notion that global warming wouldn't mean warming everywhere all at once.

And I would say BUYING stocks isn't at all like BUYING politicians.

People try to buy politicians based on nothing more than WHAT they say.

BUYING stocks is an entirely different ball game.

So WHO is defrauding WHO?

So people. IF you don't buy in global warming. You WILL get prosecuted,

No. If you commit fraud you will be prosecuted. Science denial is act of willful stupidity but it's not illegal.

Try again Kali.

Global Warming is a POLITICAL BELIEF.

Lol. No it isn't... It's a valid scientific theory. The only people who don't believe it let themselves believe it is a political belief that relies on politics to be true.

If the "science" isn't "settled' then it is simply punishment against a belief favored by a political ideology.

It is, and he's right. Climate change is a fact, a reality. Global warming is the politicization of climate change.

And really, neither side is being truthful in the matter, nor trying to find the truth to the matter. In reality, it goes something like this: the climate has, and always will, change. Our planet has been warming since the last ice age, and the micromanagement of data creates alarm where alarm may not be warranted. But being a political hot topic, its obviously going to be micromanaged so that narratives can be constantly updated for the 24 hour news cycle.

That said, human activity has absolutely, undeniably sped up the change. What will happen because of this? That is how its politicized....its turned into fear mongering over the musings of scientists in what are called "reports" by the media. To make it sound more official.

And that is what the right hand is doing. what is the left hand doing, besides killing the ocean? i mean, no need to worry about corexits and fukushima's when the only environment ball allowed to be in play politically is "global warming".

Interesting topic.

If the effects of burning fossil fuels can be shown, with scientific evidence, to play a part in climate change/rise in co2 levels and the oil/gas companies purposely lied to their shareholders about it, are they guilty of a crime?

I think so, but they better have their research and evidence in perfect order.

Unfortunately I don't think any of this will televised like the Big Tobacco hearing were, I think it will be very interesting and the spin coming from all the right wing media is going to be tedious to fact find through to say the least. Exxon is on the record for 'believing' in Anthropogenic Climate Change but funds several avenues of denialism including scientists, think tanks and bloggers.

ExxonMobil and its supporters are now eliding the essential difference between fraud and public debate. Raising the revered flag of the First Amendment, they loudly object to investigations recently announced by attorneys general of several states into whether ExxonMobil has publicly misrepresented what it knew about global warming.

Can you point to me to an example of science that is settled? Which sciences are 100% complete, never to change again?

Because the church of climatology wants to burn us heretics at the stake.

For not believing in the 'holy' gospel.

Nope. I'm sure you remember the big class action law suit against tobacco companies... were smokers who believed that smoking didn't cause cancer targeted?

I do the SAME people that said that are now trying to legalize another plant people light on fire, and breathe smoke in to their lungs saying it's 'better'.

Funny the same people pushing 'global warming'.

The absolute desperation to find and twist the tiniest thing to cause democrats or liberals to appear anti constitutional- or whomever else it is causing you to feel inadequate, is perfectly illustrated in that post.

So you want to keep sending people to prison over a plant, but investigating oil companies for potential fraud is a step too far.

There was no twist there.

What when on the church wasn't because of the religion itself.

But the politicization of it by the few.

The few that was responsible for the greatest atrocities in world history.

People SHOULD be paying attention.

The planet has always undergone climate change, yes. No one is denying that. Not politicians, not Science. The notion that Science and politicians deny past changes has been pushed into the debate by previously stated funded denialists... but it isn't true.

The planet should be cooling, our orbital path around the sun currently has us further away from the sun... the sun itself has been giving us less energy (heat) for quite a long while now. TL;DR all other known causes have been ruled out and trying to find a different explanation has yielded nothing. It's us... specifically our GHG emissions from burning fossil fuels (not from breathing or farting).

The planet is warming, Global Warming. Darrell Issa likes to throw snowballs on the Senate floor so that he can say it snowed somewhere so the planet can't be warming... that's why we ended up using Climate Change to indicate that warming won't uniform but will cause changes in climate all over the planet.

You don't understand what science is and it's people like you who have turned it in to a new age religion. People like you will use it for all kinds of evil in the future.
