Well Dg we will never know what this administration will do to get sympathy from the rest of the world in the war on !!!!!!Terror!!!!!!

This is a conspericy site so I will have to ask the question.

Could this have been done by us and then kill him to gain favor for thge war? The "Christain world" would be shocked and dismayed-enough to do something about it?

From popular to demonized for the insurgents. This can only work tyo our advantage-the insurgents don't mind killing but they are not that stupid.

This one deservises closer attention folks.

Muaddib, are you like omniscient? You seem to be so sure of everything.

Maybe the ignorant ones are the ones who say "The facts speak for themselves" too easily.

Not really....i just don't wallow in conspiracies that have no evidence. If the evidence points to the contrary, and if a "socialist country" is finding evidence that points to islamic extremists doing such things, then the evidence must be right. DENY IGNORANCE!!! is the motto of ATS and ATSNN. This forum in specific deals with facts, not with wild claims that have no grounds.

If i were to make a new username and make up a well tought out "conspiracy" more than a few of our members will believe it without having any real evidence.

Would you prefer not to be informed and rely only on "wild claims"?....

Very funny..... It is also true that the moon does not exist, you know it is a conspiracy made by the US government,so people keep looking up to the Moon, and get distracted while driving and so people can have car accidents..... You know, it does make the insurance companies rich......

Ransom sought for archbishop
From correspondents in Rome
January 18, 2005

AN Iraqi group that kidnapped the Catholic archbishop of Mosul has demanded a $US200,000 ($266,000) ransom for his release, a missionary agency quoted a leading Catholic cleric as saying today.

The kidnappers had allowed Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa to speak by telephone to an aide at his Mosul diocese, said Archbishop Paulos Rahho, the head of the Chaldean Catholic community in the northern Iraqi city.

"The group who took bishop Casmoussa yesterday has this morning demanded a ransom of $US200,000," he was quoted as saying by Misna missionary agency.

Thank you Sanctum for actually providing news on the situation!

I am checking in for facts not speculation and this thread is really frustrating to watch. I was actually going to bag relying on ATS to stay on top of this one, but couldn't find anything elsewhere on the web new.

Thanks for the update!

Oh, no details yet, and I have to get off to work, but I just read he was freed. Hopefully someone else has more time to provide the details so we can get the real info on exactly what this was all about.

Just glad it's not ended badly.

Archbishop Kidnapped in Iraq Is Freed

MOSUL, Iraq - A Catholic archbishop kidnapped in northern Iraq was freed Tuesday , a day after his abduction, without any ransom being paid, the Vatican said.

Archbishop Basile Georges Casmoussa, 66, of the Syrian Catholic Church was kidnapped by gunmen in the city of Mosul on Monday.

"He has been freed and he is on his way home without paying any ransom," said Potris Moshi, an assistant to the church leader.

Kidnapped cleric treated well
From correspondents in Vatican City
January 19, 2005

"As soon as they knew I was a bishop, their attitude changed and I was released at midday ... without a ransom being paid," added Casmoussa, the leader of Mosul's 35,000-member Syrian Catholic community.

"I was always very straight with them, I did what they told me in a calm way. And they behaved properly.

"This morning they came in to tell me that the pope had called for my release. And I said: 'Thank God, everything will be alright'."

Well that is some good news, I wonder which group was the one that took him hostage, I bet it was a lot of pressure from high up ranks in the group to have him released.

No that the Vatican could not pay the Ransom.

Thanks for the update relentless.

Wht do you expect, the insurgents know better than to harm an ordained servant of the real god. They know full well neither their false prophet nor his demon in disguise patron can protect them from his wrath.

Common Jsobecky is good to bring some spice to the conspiracy thread, and by the way, we still have the one with the murdered family up north that one is going to be something to keep an eye on.
