Roller-coaster cars aren't supposed to come off the tracks. Most have wheels on 3 sides of a rail on each side of the car to prevent this. I'm wondering if the track itself came apart allowing the car to come off and crash to the ground. Too little information.

This is horrible....

Horrible yes and 30ft ? is a big distance when strapped in. The kiddies ride was on small motorbikes and I hope it was without custom..

Looks like someone didn't do proper maintenance and safety check...these roller coaster machines do go through wear and tear just like any tool...someone is going to lose their job. Not good publicity for this theme park. I can tell you I won't be riding that Tsunami anytime soon

Improper maintenance or sabotage?

Usually those things just get stuck in place. Something like that happening is the worst sort of nightmare for everyone involved, and they are designed for it to be nigh impossible.

Here's the Mail link with some photos.

That looks horrible. I agree that it will be a miracle if no one dies, and I am hoping for a miracle.

A system resembling transportation, but designed to give amusement to the riders.... that kills/injures people.

People paid money to be injured.
Sounds like a ripe piece of fruit for an ambulance-chasing lawyer.

Eight children and two adults have been injured after a rollercoaster derailed and crashed at a theme park in North Lanarkshire in Scotland. Police said the injured were all being treated at local hospitals. Six ambulances and six fire engines were at the M&D's park near Strathclyde Park, Motherwell, after being called at 15:37. It was evacuated shortly after. One adult and one child are in stable condition and three children are expected to be allowed home later. The incident involved the Tsunami ride, which can travel at up to 40mph. One eyewitness said "people were trapped upside down on the ride" following the crash. Police Scotland revised down the number of injured from its initial estimate of 11 and confirmed there were nine passengers on the ride at the time. Ch Insp David Bruce said: "On arrival it became clear a series of five gondolas connected on a train on the Tsunami ride have detached from the rails, struck the superstructure and then struck the ground. "As a result of this accident, 10 people have been injured, two adults and eight children."

EU sabotage to avenge the brexit? The EU is historically notorious for sabotages not just in amusement parks!
