2nd Moon 2016HO3 orbiting Earth & implications for catastrophic Asteroid collisions risk

The ending of 2015 experienced one of the highest rates of what it is known in popular culture a doom porn climax, there were dozens of organizations, especially sects claiming to have privileged information, that was supposedly confirmed secretly by anonymous people working in NASA, that an Asteroid was going to collide earth.

The general claim of all those conspiracy theories was that earth was going to collide with an asteroid in the Atlantic by September or October of 2015.

Now, the really interesting point is that precisely in September 7th of 2015 a really big meteor entered in the atmosphere as a fire ball over the city of Bangkok Thailand,

and February 2016 ended with an actual impact in the middle of the Atlantic ocean of an Asteroid, in between Brazil and South Africa, that carried out enough kinetic energy to produce an explosion similar to the one caused by the atomic bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.

This last event, that was absolutely not predicted and even monitored by NASA but was correctly forecasted since 2013 by the Russian Space agency, with only one week of margin of error, would suggest that the worry among many people, with scientific base or not, about the collision with giant meteors or asteroids is not unjustified after all.

Now, on late April of this year, something that is just confirmed this week, a really important discovery in Astronomy is giving new light to understand the dynamic of Asteroids, and a lot of Hope about that even if a really huge one approach us, it does not necessarily mean that we are going to face another catastrophic Tunguska explosion, like the one of 1908

For incredible that this sounds Space agencies has confirmed that the Earth has since about a century ago another moon orbiting around it, one that was actually an asteroid of about 300 ft of length that approached our planet and became trapped for the terrestrial gravity.

With all respect to your opinion, the simulations in computer show clearly that is doing a revolution periodically around the earth, besides the fact that also certainly orbits around the sun.

Now, our old Moon also orbits around the sun, that is not strange at all, but always attached to its own orbit around the earth, so one thing does not contradict necessarily the other, moreover they are both complementary.

The thread you are mentioning is entirely focused in the discovery and the fact that might be a second moon, but does not offer any discussion about the implications that this fact has in terms of understanding the supposed danger Asteroids impact may represent for civilization.

Why there are asteroids that impact or explode over the atmosphere while others can be trapped in orbit under the gravity of Earth?

Now, continuing the discussion of the failure of NASA to predict and even monitor the strike of the Asteroid entered in atmosphere and colliding with mid Atlantic Ocean in late February, there is this article commenting that at least the agency was able to detect some hours before it happened another event in October of 2008, the impact of 2008 TC3, occurred over the Nubian dessert and that released about 2 kiloTons of energy:

The second time American Astronomers were able not to predict but to detect hours before it actually happened the entering of an asteroid to the atmosphere was with a smaller body occurred in December 31st of 2013, known as 2014 AA.

It is evident that Russian Astronomers have some knowledge or are in possession of a more advanced technology to predict Asteroids impacts, although it is also clear that not concerning bodies of much smaller size, since they failed in to foresee the explosion over Siberia of the Chelyabinsk meteor of February 15th of 2013.
