headaches, strain on the nervous system? I notice when I use my cell quite a bit, that I tend to have headaches mounting. What all does a cell emit when in use?

it emits stress from being constantly able to have someone be able to get ahold of you. the overages give you a headache and its just another bill. you have no privacy and can no longer use the excuse "i was out"

as far a radiation? i dunno, personally, i think thats alot of bunk. (imo)

LOL...thats not what I meant, but good answer though.

I have heard that cell phones emit radiation. I do not know how much, or if it is true, but I have also heard about people getting skin problems, and/or tumors located in areas where they most frequently have their cell phones (the side of your face or head that you most hold the phone, and in the hip area where it is carried). I have heard that t.v.'s and computer monitors emit some levels of radiation too. I have not researched any of that info, so I dont know how true any of it is, but I have heard it all somewhere.

Well, there are millions of cell phones in circulation and they have been so for the better part of the last decade. I haven't seen any deaths reported, maybe the cell phone companies have been keeping them low-profile, sounds like another conspiracy to me

Nope, not a conspiracy, it a pretty creepy fact. Cell phones emit microwave radiation, the same stuff that your microwave oven uses to cook popcorn. I have seen cell phones register danergous milligaus readings as far as ten feet away. The wireless communications lobby is a powerful one, but the information is out there. I don't even like being in the same room as my microwave oven and I don't use a cell phone at all. Computer monitors emit a different kind of radiation which is gamma, and not very good for either, but it still isn't as harmful as microwaves being held to the side of your head. The wattage and range very from phone to phone, but I would very seriously consider getting a head set. One of the big wigs in the wireless industry (pretty much the inventor of cell phone technology was on 20/20 several years back saying he didn't even wear his phone on his body.

Twitchy is right, My new cell phone emits enough radiation that it interferes with my car speakers, and has actually made popping sounds on other radio speakers in my house even when the radio is switched off, especially when receiving an incoming call. I not only get a headache from mine if I don’t use a headphone, but I also notice after a extended call I tend to get irritable with the person I am talking with for no good reason.

They also say that you should not wear one on your belt, especially if you’re a man, the radiation tends to mess up other things over time as well.

my cell phone can give me headaches sometimes. i think it's because the sound waves are to close to my ear. apparently, if you're 5 to 10 years old, you shouldn't have a cell phone because your ear drums are still very sensitive.

Chrisamatic, How do you figure the sound waves are any closer to your ear in a car phone as opposed to a regular phone?

If the sound waves don’t make contact with your ear drum you would not hear anything. If you mean its too loud, then adjust it down in the volume settings, but either way if your getting headaches, then still you should use a earphone, and keep the phone a few feet away from you.

Several of my friends in the field of surgery have commented lately to me that the prevalence of neuroblastomas is increasing-- particularly among heavy cell phone users (more than 30 min per day). The location of the tumor tends to coincide with the side of the head that people tend to favor when speaking on the phone.

Any device, placed near the body, which emits electromagnetic waves can potentially lead to cell damage (i.e. mutation, death, etc.).

The "hands-free" earbud essentially vectors the waves directly into your ear. Typical side effects of overexposure include headaches, difficulty sleeping, and irritability. Short-term memory loss is also common.

There appears to be a risk associated with cell phone use. The safety ratings are based on HEAT emitted rather than RADIATION emitted. If the current trend continues at this rate, there may be thousands of new cases within the next decade.

I usualy get splitting headaches whenever I get closer then 50 meters to a celltower and when I'm on the phone with my cellphone for longer then 10 minutes.

Its true that they emit microwave radiation and posibly slowly fry your brain when your on the phone.

Apart from headaches, I also experience heavy sweating around the area where I'm holding the phone while calling, my ear and hair around my ear is usualy soaking wet with sweat after long calls, with normal phones I never had this problem(except with wireless ones).

Someone earlyer in this thread already said something about the general wireless lobying going on these days. Its very true unfortunatly.

There are currently so many people that have everything wireless in their home and around their PC's, that it wouldn't surprise me that alot of fertility and other medical problems might emerge over the next decade because of this.

People now have around and on their PC, a wireless mouse, keyboard, headset, microphone, phone, cellphone, network switch, router, hub, wireless network cards and last but not least in the "nuke my testicles" category, wireless connections to their computer or sterio speakers, that are overpowered on nearly every device I've seen, to be sure to keep signal distortions to a minimum.

If there is a conspiracy at work behind this, then I'm sure the goal of it will be population decrease on the long run, peopel won't be able to procreate anymore if it keeps going like this, cause the ladies eggs and the mens swimmers will be as blank as can be.

The ear piece on a headphone, or “ear-bud” if you prefer, should not emit any radiation, the radiation comes from the antenna. The only waves the earpiece should be emitting is sound waves. This might effect your hearing, but should not cause you tumors, that is why I said to keep the phone (antenna) away from your body.

Chrisamatic, I was not trying to sound pi$$y with you, I just thought it was funny is all.

Here's a couple sites to check out, please for the love of god research this stuff before you go holding a magnitron up to the side of your head, this isn't just a crazy conspiracy theory, this is researched and well documented by a plethora of science and health industry related research.

www.emf.com...
In a study not yet published (by May 1999), scientists at Stanford University and Integrated Laboratory Systems (ILS) in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, have found that cellular phone radiation can triple the number of chromosome abnormalities in human blood cells [ref. 25]. This was disclosed to the magazine Microwave News (March/April 1999) by Dr. George Carlo, chairman of Wireless Technology Research (WTR), founded and sponsored by the cellular phone industry. Dr. Carlo told Microwave News "WTR has found links between cellular phone use and cancer"....

In 1999, Swedish cancer specialist Dr. Lennart Hardell looked at brain tumor sufferers and found a connection between phone use and cancer....

In 1997 the results of a study funded by the Australian telecommunications company Telstra showed that transgenic mice exposed to GSM cell phone signals had an almost two-and-a-half times higher risk of developing lymphatic cancer than unexposed mice...

According to a Swedish study [ref. 51] on 11,000 cell phone users in Sweden and Norway, cell phone users complain of a variety of symptoms from their use of cell phones. According to the scientists, the problems start at just 2 minutes or more on the cell phone per day....

Even websites that are generally friendly to the industry are starting to come around...

www.pagewise.com...
The latest study from Sweden shows that a single two-hour exposure to some cellular phone microwaves killed brain cells in rats.

Plenty of information out there if you look somewhere other than the phamplet that comes with your phone and the Wireless Communication Companies funded research...

constructive interference caused about by reflection of microwaves from skull double ionisation of cells to cause mutation and therefore cancer. Maybe an answer to more cancers from cell phones external to the skull, IMHO, not to mention that ionisation at anylevel from microwaves kills living cells, why worry about telling us to eat selenium to cut cancer caused about by free radicals in body when they are caused by THEM in the first place through ionising our a££es through microwaves. Btw free radicals can be made through this ionisation process in cells.

Did you ever consider the size of your cell phone. Most people get headaches/muscle aches from them because they either try to cradle them using their shoulder or because of the way they have to hold them to their ear. Those are fairly unnatural positions to hold for a long time. Remember with a standard telephone (land-line) handset it is much larger and is easier to hold and cradle.

To prove this is the case, I suggest duct taping your cell phone to your head and seeing that if using it this way still causes headaches or not.

wait...wait...wait...wait...wait
I remember the first time that story about ce;; phones being potentially harmful.
I also remember it debunked on the news.

Are you all telling me that cell phones are indeed harmful. That the media was lying to us. OMG

Also, I tend to keep my cellphone next to the bed. From what is being said here, that may be too close. When not in use, how close should our phones be to out bodies.
And, are you saying cordless phones are just as dangerous?

A greta idea for an experiment!! I don't think the experiment will be successful though, unless you post multiple pictures of the experiment in this thread...

Better get yourself some tumour insurance to provide for your loved ones once you are gone...

In the very early 90's, I took a Telecommunications Engineering Technology program at a technical institute, and ALL of my instructors back then, all recommended to stay away from cell phone use. Although the analog cell phones of the day had way bigger power supplies, and emitted more powerful electromagnetic radiation than today's compact digital phone power supplies and antennae, the danger of prolonged use and exposure to this radiation is still potentially very harmful. After all these years, I still do not own a cell phone, although I sure would like to have one.
Not to mention that the dangers of cell phone use are not just with the power supply and Tx of the signal. Even more dangerous than those issues are the potential hazards of driving (and other tasks which need the individuals full attention) while talking on the phone (including hands free operation). I work on city streets everyday, and it is absolutely amazing, the stupidity of peoples' driving while talking on the phone. I find it incredible that there are not more "phone related" deaths in our streets...

Never noticed that personally, but then again I use my cell phone via an ear piece.

Now, I do know for a fact that cell phones cause people to lose all sense of social skills and acceptable public behaviour (thank you mr. I'm so important for talking on your phone in the theater... :flame
