If you LIKE gun fights get help,if you like to project your opinions on others when they describe their actions,I think it's a failed debate method.

Nice try mate .... but you're not going to hook this Aussie sheila with your dribble.

For years and years and years i have seen these posts on ATS. You cant handle the fact that what happened here made a difference. To acknowledge that would to be admit failure.

The answer is simple. BAN AMMUNITION. Let them keep their guns. You can use them to hit people on the head, throw them at someone, whatever you want. I can assure you that you wont see 49 dead from someone doing that.

If you did nothing after Sandy Hook and the pictures of those poor kids slaughtered, then its just this simple - you're crazy.

Crazy = someone who will never understand reason.

End of discussion.

As soon as I finished your post, I thought to myself, "here come the SJW's insinuating racism because you said the word Mexican."

I was right.

Can't even describe someone's race/nationality anymore without being called a racist.

People that think we can get rid of guns in the United States are misguided and living in fantasy land.

People that WANT to disarm American's clearly aren't paying attention to the threat of our government, and the threat of Islamic terror.

So four drunk idiots surround your sister in a violent and threatening manner.

What do you do? Hope a cop is around? Call the cops and wait 10 minutes?

Sounds like a solid plan to me.

What a disrespectful thing to say.

a reply to: MoonshinneI am an Australia and would indeed own a gun if i could. Unfortunately the criminals here have weapons and quite often automatic or semi automatic weapons but the law abiding citizens do not and at a good guess canada and the uk are in the same boat. THE PROBLEM IS NOT GUNS it is when guns get into the wrong hands. Unfortunately criminals will always have weapons and will never respect the proper usage of them eg hunting and self defense or defense of another under threat. A criminal that is going to cold bloodedly murder someone is not going to care about laws restricting or banning firearm usage. Nearly every house in swizerland has a gun and quite often an automatic weapon at that yet the swiss have one of the lowest gun crime rates in the world.

How can the us citizens expect to hand in their weapons when your crazy police forces go around shooting people as they do and when your crazy government buys how many BILLION hollow core bullets and builds suspicious looking detention camps everywhere and when the crazy government disrespects your own constitution and their very own laws and those that are suppose to respect other countries soverienty

Do you know why you can't compare Australia and America when it comes to guns?

Australians aren't living under the most violent war mongering dictatorial regime in the world. Our government spends more money on it's military then the rest of the world combined. Our government is monitoring our every communication. Our government has weapons of war in the hands of the police, tanks rolling around in the streets. We have a standing private army operating on our soil in the DHS. We have multiple violent federal alphabet agencies patrolling our every move. We have so many laws that the average every day citizen unknowingly commits multiple felonies. We have the largest prison population per capita in the entire world, and 80% of the people are locked up for VICTIM-LESS non violent crimes. Our justice system is broken. Our vets are offing themselves in record numbers as our ruling class laughs it up. We have large portions of our population living in poverty in generational cultural crime families. The list goes on and on.

There are MILLIONS of guns in the USA. It is estimated that there are more illegal guns in Detroit than any standing army has in it's possession. Guns aren't going anywhere. Restricting our gun ownership will only enable our criminal element further. The rest of us law abiding owners will be sitting ducks.

The main reason, maybe even the only reason for the second amendment, is because the founders understood what government tyranny looks like. People here in the states are to placated with kanye west and kim kardashian to even see it. Someday, maybe not now, maybe not in one hundred years, they are going to take it too far.

And guess who will be at the front lines stopping them?

True American Patriots with small arms.

And before you give me the nonsense of "well they have tanks and missiles what can you do with guns," just look at our track record when we face urban guerrilla warfare.

Someday, everyone in the world will be thanking the gun owners in this country.

I would absolutely HATE to live in a country where I felt the need to be armed when I go out.

I feel so lucky to not live in a country like that.

How many wars have we won?

Every culture has at one time tried to impress their ideals on another. Look at the spread of democracy vs. Socialism after the cold war. Then you also have the lunatics. Would you continue speaking your mind if a Northern Korean diplomat (I know it's a stretch) insisted that the solution to their problems is keeping their nuclear arsenal?

I am assuming that we are all sane people who believe North Korea is a problem for the entire world.

I'm not worried that anyone is going to try to take our guns, they are a huge global economy. How many times a gun a be sold a resold over 3 borders and make a profiteach time just to make it back to its original country is incredible. It isn't just criminals either, government and corporations make money on used guns and stolen ammunition. Heck, Washington has a website where you can go see what they are looking for, what condition, and boom, youre an international weapons dealer. Yeah, you gotta have the tens to hundreds of millions to compete for a contract, but I dont see money as unobtainable or an issue to anyone with a plan...anyway, back to the point: OP you are complaining about something every patriotic human does for their country. If you went to Australia, would you find yourself talking to someone in a bar about gun laws? Would you feel patriotic and attempt to explain why it's not a bad system and the problem lies elsewhere? I would...I'd definitely point out that I believe mental illness to be the main factor and that would make me quilty of changing subjects and not taking responsibility, both arguments I would also make.

What I'm saying, is we all have opinions, and everyone knows that. But do people respect their own hubris? Because we all have that too. And that's what causes us to believe our opinions are somehow more correct than anothers, when the only things that a truly correct are the facts. I mean the real ones...not the ones written by the rich or the winners of wars. (It's the year 105 in North Korea...so I guess you don't have to even be rich or win to write hustory...). So let's keep our minds open to new ideas and accept that they may work. If a handful of people didn't decide to stand up, speak, and follow through with a very important plan, we wouldn't have America as we know it. And those men DEFINITELY had some hubris of their own. After all, we don't have to agree, the point here is to discuss theories and opinions, not necessarily SOLVE problems. This is a bank of information, to be added to and over the years so let's treat it like that, and not bother with starting entire threads based something you don't like.

This post got a lot longer than I intended, I just really prefer to see posts that contain information and substance, not just opinions and theories. New and contradicting information that changes how we view our history is what im interested in. And yes, I realize that most of what I've said is an opinion, but you know, man's hubris and all...makes us arrogantly oblivious to any of our own contradictions.

Live in america and i never feel i have to carry a gun when i go out at all. Im like this when its your time to die you are going to do so no matter what. So why worry when i go out even with mass shooters? I just liek the option of being able to do so and with any weapon i choose to do so with.

Numbers/stats are the main things quoted.

I must say as an Australian, it is more common to hear politicians from the USA using the success of Australia's gun laws being amended as opposed to any Aussie trying to force our laws on the US.

The comedian you are referring to I speculate is Jim Jeffries. He's a comedian. Just let that sink in for a moment.

I think he raises some very valid points however at the end of the day he's a entertainer. Nothing there to get you knickers in twist!

I think in the US you guys should do whatever you think is right. I personally just feel sorrow for the 40,000 people killed by firearms. Especially the school kids and other youngsters.

There's a reason why we have a 2nd amendment. study the revolutionary war for starters, then branch off to dictatorships throughout history. I'll deal with the occasional killings to have my liberty.

Instead of focusing on the gun problem (and yes it is a problem), why not try to understand why the terrorists hate the US and vote in people that are willing to deal with that problem, without more guns?

The Rambo mentality isn't going to solve problems. If you were in that club you would start firing at the person shooting? In a crowded room? Could you live with killing an innocent person?

Just my two cents and some quick points I thought of. I'm not saying you are right or wrong, only my thoughts.

According to reports, he was at the door, shooting at everyone inside, later going outside, then back in.
