Due process people, we have already allowed unreasonable search and seizure to occur (civil asset forfeiture) to happen in the name of the "greater good".
Do we really want some bureaucrat to be able to strip constitutional rights, with no over sight?

A bit of anecdotal evidence...

been in the military since '97, as an airmen one time I had a captains orders placed in my box, why you might ask (as well as what does this have to do with anything), well it turns out we had the same first name, same middle initial, and our last names were identical except for my last name having an extra letter at the end.

Could be that simple... a fat fingered typist and boom you lose your rights.. and now you have to prove to the red tape brigade that you are not a threat. After nearly 20 years of an up close view at government "efficiency", that concept terrifies me.

So the Democrats & Republicans arm these mad men choosing sides every other week, sending billions of dollars in weapons to the Middle East. Now they want to take our guns away because we will be safer?

Do any of these rabid anti-gun nuts not realize the 49 people died before the cops even attempted to enter the place? The cops cowered in fear before coming up with a game plan to enter the place. Then when they did they blew a hole showering countless victims with concrete shrapnel.

Ya, these are the guys we want protecting us. I can hear it now.. "Let's just wait and see."

The political hacks are poisonous, treasonous, evil Mother (Fill in the blank). The left wing of the Internet is also trending with "this is the fault of the NRA and Christians." Even some threads on ATS are blaming the NRA and Christians. This guy was trained and was working for a Government Contractor and the Government tells me they will protect mine?

Heck, we see where this is going.. when can we expect the Crucifixions to start you left wingers? Might as well get get on with it because everything wrong in your world is at our door step..

The accuracy of any given terror watch list is a different issue. We should be able to agree however that if we think someone may be a terrorist they shouldn't be able to easily purchase weapons.

As far as background checks, aside from fringe concerns, there's Zero justification to oppose that idea.

Oh really?... When you have an administration willing to brand all Americans who lean to the right in politics as "possible extremists/possible terrorists, and a threat to the nation?"

While scanning the pages of mainstream propaganda machines like Reuters, I came across this little gem of an article, which outlines plans by the U.S. Justice Department to apply existing enemy combatant laws used against ISIS terrorists and their supporters to “domestic extremists,” specifically mentioning the Bundy takeover of the federal refuge in Burns, Oregon as an example.

Extremist groups motivated by a range of U.S.-born philosophies present aclear and present danger,John Carlin, the Justice Departments chief of national security, told Reuters in an interview. “Based on recent reports and the cases we are seeing, it seems like we’re in a heightened environment.”
...

www.alt-market.com...

www.reuters.com...

Wow...U.S. born philosophies?... I wonder like what? maybe the Constitution of the United States?...

The left wing, fascist regime in power now has skewed the meaning of what a "possible terrorist/possible extremist is"... Take it from the SPLC, which is seen by Obama's State department as a great instrument to fight extremism, and they label people like Ron Paul, Judge Andrew Napolitano among others "as extremists"...

Ron Paul’s New Organization Reportedly Stacked with Extremists

That's how socialists/fascists go after their opposition, by labeling all opposition to them as "extremists"... Thanks but no thanks...

What is "on the table" in the current filibuster is exactly what has been stated, and is really intended to bring the majority party to the table to actually do something for a change.

As nefarious and evil as Obama and Clinton are you can bet your last dollar that as soon as that law is passed every American will be on that list. Then it will be "It's a process we must go though" Or "we must pass the law before we see whats in it."

No thanks, I will take my chances and lay my bet with real Americans and their right to defend themselves. Just because no one at Pulse had a gun doesn't mean the rest of the nation must suffer that mistake. They had the same right we all have and they chose not to exercise that right.

This article lists 6 thigns that need to be addressed before tying any gun sales to any watch list.

1. The watch lists were not meant to adjudicate individual rights in any way which this would suddenly make them do.

2. Democrats (and some press outlets) are falsely conflating the no-fly list with the terrorist watch list. One has 40,000 names while the other has millions.

3. This current proposal, had it been law, would NOT have prevented the Orlando massacre. Mateen would still have been able to legally obtain his weapons.

4. Hillary's call to remember 9/12 is a call back to the time when that era of bipartisan spirit brought us the Patriot Act. Do we need to mention where all that has gone wrong? Do we need to rush to repeat that by curtailing even more of our rights?

5. The proposed gun ban list has all the legal weaknesses of both the terrorist watch list AND the no-fly list. Basically it is an arbitrary imposition on our rights in numerous ways.

6. This is the exact same push for gun control in the same manner that Democrats made last time. And they have not, even for a second, made any allowances for any of the due process concerns that were raised about it last time which suggests they don't care at all for that.

Banning guns is the solution to this whole islamist mess!

Everyone knows that. lol.

Maybe they should go with plan B, if they have one.

Because doing the same thing over and over and over and expecting it to work, is not crazy at all!!

This whole situation has people scared for their political lives.

As well as it should.

Why not ban all Muslims and democrats from owning guns?

Ok so democrats want to take our guns away and republicans apparently want to profile middle easterners. Trump even said there should be a halt to immigration from Syria/Afghanistan/etc. If the republicans really wanted something else, they wouldn't have voted for Trump.

Can't we do something inbetween? That's what I'd like to see. Better background checks for those wanting a gun and for those coming here from elsewhere. But no "we want your guns" and no nazi tactics.

Funny how when Trump says halt immigration from some countries the lefties go ape # but isn't that what Obama did in 2011 to Iraq refuges? Why? Because they presented a threat!

And bill clinton with the haitians because of AIDS.

Obama is fast tracking the refugees from syria now.

He wants a certain number by september and hillary wants to increase the number 500%.

Gross hyperbole. Have you been labeled a terrorist? Are you on a watch list? If not, get real.

The Bundys were terrorists. Yes, they should be on a watch list. No, it wasn't "just because of their politics" but because of their illegal actions.

Yes, "US Born Philosophies" ... like say, lynching. Timothy McVeigh followed another such "philosophy."

Yada yada left wing, yada yada fascist yada yada BS.

No guns for terrorists. Background checks. That's swhat's on the table. Neither should take a thing away from any law-abiding American.

Ya, that's like saying if you have nothing to hide why won't you let me in your house." Use the head for more than a hat rack there pal..

From onsite to bang to bullets it took the cops 3 hours. You put your faith in that, the rest of America knows better and so do the 49 that died at the hands of "negotiators".

"Nefarious and evil" . . . okay. I can't debate that with you, because its a personal belief.

It's absurd to think that "all Americans" would be on a terror watch list.

What exactly are "real" Americans? The ones you agree with?

The items on the table for discussion, once again and as many times as it needs to be said, is no gun sales to terrorists and background checks. The ridiculous wailing about "no guns" is absurd, has always been, and is ridiculous so given the fact that there are now 320 MILLION guns in the hands of the American people, more than the military, or the combined police forces of the United States.

If at any point you're interested in talking about real things rather than boogey-men provided by the NRA and the wingnut press, let me know.

Arming rebels in Syria.

Don't forget Waco!!! If you want to be accurate, the US government was actually responsible for the 2nd worst massacre of American citizens in recent history!

Yeah, Janet Reno.

Hillary's pick and "the worst mistake I ever made" according to Bill.

Nice going hillary. Want another do-over?

Anytime you use the phrase "that's like saying _____" then you're not dealing with reality any more.

Stop the silly insinuations or you'll be ignored.

You don't speak for "the rest of America" number one, and the 49 that died cannot be said to know anything.

I find the fact that you feel comfortable with using our honored dead as stick-figures in ridiculous political rhetoric appalling.

Democrats and some Republicans are actually capitulating to ISIS. This is exactly what ISIS wants and they are giving it to them even though this had nothing to do with ISIS.

ISIS claims credit and they jump all over it like Bill Clinton with an Intern.. They have a vision of ISIS as General Patton and they are running scared. Who do we get on our team? Clone after clone of Neville Chamberlain..

"Take the guns, take the guns! Don't fight, show them love. Love Wins!"

These people and their supporters are unhinged lunatics..

How does doing nothing accomplish anything? (Your question is hopelessly generic.)

Are you opposed to background checks? Do you think potential terrorists should have the same access to firearms as every one else?

Do you know what it takes to get you on a watch list:

1. Sign your stuff with two different names; your given formal one and a shortened version of same

2. Carry debt

3. Have vaccinations that are not in the normal list of vaccinations

Those will do it apparently as my husband found out. The first constitutes an "alias," the second means you might be bribable or susceptible to monetary manipulation, and the last indicates you might be up to strange tinkering with germs or work in a biofacility with strange bugs.

Oh you can bet everyone of those 49 wished they had a gun in their had to shot this mad man. Instead of fighting you people want to surrender.. Give up liberty for security huh? That is exactly what you are doing. I know I speak for many more Americans than you and your flawed ideology will ever speak for..

Ignore as you wish. That is what the left does best. Ignore and then when something happens latch on to the easiest most superficial target available.
