It's about time for another government shut-down.

I kind of liked the last shutdown, traffic was less, we had people stepping up to mow the lawns of national park areas and it was quiet.

War and killing has taken place since the time of Cain and Abel.

If every gun disappeared from this planet overnight, war and killing would not stop.

Man has always been creative when it come to devising a way to kill another.

Let them ban assault weapons. They will cheer, then realize, wait a minute, those have been illegal since the NFA act of 1934. Unless your wealthy enough to go through the long and expensive process to own a class 3 "assault weapon".

The only thing I didn't like about it was how the Petulance in Chief decided to "punish" people for it by preventing school kids from taking tours and extremely elderly vets from visiting their monuments just once before they died. You know because the public had to pay a price for electing the wrong people and know it was a shut down.

Otherwise you're right, we might have woken up one day and realized, "Hey, the government has been doing nothing and the world hasn't actually ended. So what exactly do we pay them for again?"

From the comments. If this is correct?

NO ONE CAN OR IS GOING TO TAKE YOUR GUNS FROM YOU. Do you even understand how amending the Constitution works? It would require several steps, most importantly a 3/4 majority vote in EVERY STATE. It's never going to happen, it's not realistic.

Then why don't they try to ban themselves ?

Arming rebels in Syria.

Don't forget Waco!!! If you want to be accurate, the US government was actually responsible for the 2nd worst massacre of American citizens in recent history!

It is situations like this where Trump should not only promote winning for his own campaign and really turn on all these good for nothing politicians and start hammering it into the public that 88% of Congress is up for reelection, yes it is important to vote him in as president, but it is equally important to replace the 88% that are all up for reelection and then get the other 12% in the midterm, and completely replace these useless fools

Fine if you want to play this game.

WHAT about Iran-Contra and the congressional hearings?

WHAT about the "October Surprise"?

You did NOT address anything I mentioned...I do NOT have time to educate YOU.

I'd like to KNOW how AWARE you are of Iran-Contra and the October Surprise?

hey, all you home grown terrorists!!....the NRA and republicans have got your back...go buy your own AR's and arm you and your anti-government friends for a little mass shooting in the near future!!!....oh, and don't worry about any silly gun regulations, because the congress punishes you in it's own special way.....by spending a few seconds of silence that will make them feel better about the tragedy.....

I edited to include....THIS IS SARCASM

I do not think the 'average' person needs to own a high powered assault weapon.

That being said there is nothing in the U.S. Constitution that prevents a moron from purchasing and possessing a high power weapon.

If you think it is okay to sell a weapon to an unstable individual then I feel you should be held responsible/accountable if the person in question kills innocent people.

Simple as it is it should be law. (period)

This is correct. However, it is not about changing the Second Amendment. He can continue to 'regulate' sales with things like the ATF and their new provisions. He does not even need an EO.

What is a high power weapon to you? A .22 in the right hands can do the same thing as a 5.56

After yet another tragedy, glad they're finally taking some steps (as feeble as they will prove to be) aside from praying and thinking to revive this.

They are hardly trying to take your guns either. They are putting controls in place. Sort of, like, you know, the kind of controls used when you, oh, say, can legally drive a car. Actually this is still less than is needed to drive a car. Yeah, it should definitely be easier to get a gun than adopt a pet or drive a car or get an abortion in this country.

Mandatory education and proof of proficiency and knowledge should be added to this in my opinion.

Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy led a group of his Democratic colleagues in a filibuster Wednesday morning in an attempt to force votes on two gun control measures in the wake of the Orlando shooting. Murphy is seeking up and down votes on two bipartisan measures.

One would ban those on the FBI’s terrorism watch list from purchasing firearms or explosives, a measure that might have prevented the weekend tragedy at a gay nightclub, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history, as the shooter Omar Mateen, had been on the FBI watch list at one time.

The second measure would close the so-called Charleston loophole in background checks, fully funding three-day background checks to ensure felons and drug users are not purchasing weapons. That bill would have prevented convicted drug user Dylann Roof from buying the gun he allegedly used to shoot nine people to death in a Charleston church a year ago Friday. [Source]

Both should have passed long ago.

Right but a .22 rifle is not as lethal as a 7.62 round.

I am not saying remove all weapons but common sense should play in the decision.

I understand that point. But once there is precedent it is easier to enact more restrictions. Does that not scare you at all?
