Police in New Mexico have surrounded City Hall in downtown Albuquerque after reports of a hostage situation, officials say, but only few details were immediately available. The credibility of the reports are unclear.

BREAKING: Active shooter with hostages at Albuquerque City Hall

Hopefully this isn't becoming a new trend in the coming days/months.

Wtf.... We'll Arizona is a big gun state so of course they had to pick a no gun zone.

This is what I keep telling everyone get ready for war because you can be next.

I doubt this is a copy cat. City Hall is not known for its gay club night life.

Seriously?? This is just becoming insane.

Wonder how this will unfold - hope there are no casualties.

UPDATE: Police spokesperson Tanner Rixier says: "At this point in time, there is no confirmation of an active shooter or that any shots were fired. We are still trying to determine/confirm if there is a hostage situation. Officers and 911 dispatchers are receiving conflicting information." More to come..

Putting on my tinfoil hat......This is suspicious as all hell. Some calls in an active shooter/hostages, but cops can't find anything going on....Could be someone wants to check response times?

No doubt this is an attempt by TPTB to make everyone stark raving mad with emotions and hate. Best way to divide the people is by presenting fear into the equation.

Everything is going to plan. If it's a Muslim then I have no doubt they are going to their number one scapegoat at the moment: Islam.

Make no mistake, ISIS and Islam are only tools being used by those in power to incite hate and fear into people's hearts.

Link is to an old story, sorry - but very similar.

BLT

(Reuters) - City hall in Albuquerque, New Mexico was placed on lockdown for about an hour on Friday after reports a man with a handgun caused a "disturbance" there, law enforcement officials said. The lockdown was lifted after surveillance cameras captured the man leaving the building, the Albuquerque Police Department said on Twitter. Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputies were "dealing with the subject," the police department said in the tweet, without elaborating. No shots were fired during the incident and there were no reports of injuries.

Just noticed that link is from 2015.

How does this even make the news until any of the above is known for sure.

I see the post above stating the situation is under control. But I'm curious about this comment

I'm relieved this is nothing, but when these incidents occur, would you rather we not know about them?

It says in the link no active shooter even though they are still investigating.

Please, everyone take a breath, our nerves are collectively shot.

I would rather we not make bad decisions in the wake of these things, both individually and collectively.

The situation isn't over. There's two teams on one of the floors trying to extract someone now.

But if you are unware of anything, you won't be able to make any decisions at all. There are times we need to act, and times to decide not to, but only information will determine what is best to do.
I don't like being kept in the dark personally.
