This print must be 40 years old or older, can anyone tell me what it is, by who..

I believe it is called "The Audition " but I am not sure, thank you..

so did you take the picture of the painting??? if not where did you find the picture of it??? that title is popular many painting have been named that!!!

I love a mystery and a challenge!!!!.......not ready to give up yet!

Yes I took the photo, it's my mothers, she loves it and wants to know what it is, it was taken from the house Tolstoy lived in . A small house in Russian Village , in Danberry CT.. a very historical place..

At first I tried an image search, but that didn't work. So then I tried a description: 7 people, violinist and it appeared on a stock photo page but there was no name. So then I took that image, did an image search of that one, and it turned up.
