I used to loved reading the books of ancient myths, tales and legends of the distant and recent past. One such tale from the old gold rush miners, speculators and explorers were of secret entrances to underground caves and caverns that were behind or underneath rocks and would stretch on for miles.

This tale seems to have been proven true by the following article

So it's a tourist attraction. The girl didn't discover it...sorry "bikini-clad girl"...so shocking to find a cave where she got told there would be a cave.

It's a cool cave but click bait misleading titles annoy me.

It would be great to discover one!

For me it was the fact that these do exist. But it would be great if somebody could find one in the dried up river creeks in California. There is a way of detecting tunnel entrances. Under thermal imaging they show up as cool dark spots (due to cool air being drawn out) against the warm surface. Something that a drone could be used for.

Caves are surprisingly common. They occur naturally in limestone and sandstone and other formations -- though some don't have a surface entrance.

Thanks for the link. I think that's the same miner I remember reading about.

If holes to cave entrances under rocks really exist could it explain the sudden "disappearances" of people?
