If I hear this bull# one more time I'm going to puke.

You know the drill - Trump and Hillary both suck but which one sucks less? That is complete madness and it's the kind of failed logic that has been crippling this country for years. This latest choice between bad or worse is just the absolute rock bottom of that dysfunctional thinking. The example I gave in another thread was that of two rabid animals, a tiger and a kitten. You might choose the kitten but you'll be just as dead.

The inevitable bad outcome of this election cycle can already be seen playing out in the GOP. People like Ryan, Gingrich and now Kirk are having to wrestle the snake they went to bed with, post Trump's outlandish racist comments regarding the judge in his Trump U case.

Hillary supporters won't be exempt from it either. They have no idea what the outcome of the email investigation might reveal. Nor any other dirty secrets lurking in the Clinton's ginormous closet.

So often we hear lamentations from ATSers about the broken two-party system. About how neither party really governs or represents the interests of the citizens. So stop voting for them already! Particularly when the choice of candidates they provide is stomach churning and creates a cogitative dissonance so debilitating that you are willing to sell out every principle and make great leaps of mental gymnastics to justify your vote.

Our founding fathers weren't willing to to settle for poor representation. Why should we? Just because we can't see the path forward at this moment, doesn't mean there isn't one. It just means we have to look closer and be more discerning. We may even have to muster our courage and forge our own path.

Don't let fear decide your fate.

I won't be voting for them; I don't need to. If no one voted, CNN would elect Hilary as president. So....why make it hard on myself?

The good news is that after she's elected by CNN, she won't be daily featured on The Weather Channel.

Unless you are not keeping up on current events...the choice is the lesser of two crazies...one evil and one a liar.
As my Irish caddy once said to me after the ball rolled into the pot bunker on number two at St Andrews..."you are fooked"...and we are no matter how one may vote.
Hit them straight...since most of Turmp's supporters can't afford a round of golf at his club this heartfelt yarn will be lost...Cheers.

You can vote or not vote.

You can call this election whatever you want. It's a popularity contest though.

As long as congress stays the same, nothing will change. Hillary or Trump?

It doesn't really matter. But I abhor Hillary, so I side with Trump. We all talk about change with the Executive Branch of government, but we never talk about the Legislative Branch or the Judicial Branch.

Every 4 to 8 years we talk about change but it is always an illusion foisted on us by the government. We have the same biased supreme court, the same biased congressmen, and people honestly anticipate that things will be different?

Get real.

I agree with most of that, except the part about voting for Donald because you hate Hillary. You know that's exactly what I am calling BS on.

Either vote for someone who inspires you and will do good things for the nation or don't vote. Or...be more brave an demand other options. For instance, what if BOTH party conventions were contested free-for-alls? And we came out of them with two other candidates altogether.

You could have Jesus, Odin, Superman, Bernie, Ra, Santa Claus run for president.

But after 4 or 8 years, they're gone and the slime in congress will still be there.

It's like putting your favorite topping on a pile of dog crap.

No matter how yummy the topping is, IT'S STILL CRAP!

But you will never get congress to vote for term limits on congress. NEVER!

Then find a candidate that will nuke that dysfunctional paradigm. Or run on that platform yourself. But don't settle. It's the settling that has given us the current system.

The elections ARE madness for sure, no doubt about that. Corruption is king when it comes to choosing the favourable and Clinton is sure a fast runner in that respect. Truth and honour just don't make the grade in these times - this is the 21st century after all and the good guys have been silenced or killed.
The American dream has been churned and the exposed rot underneath has been allowed to spread and infect the hearts and minds of the american people. And to celebrate this fantastic new world order of american politics I offer this music video to stir and summon and celebrate the modern USA.

I like your OP, I've been saying this for years.

However the incessant screaming and promises of "BUT THIS TIME, IT'LL BE DIFFERENT," take precedence over caution and carefulness.

Americans are a funny bunch. I'm told regularly by Republicans that Obummer is trying to take their guns using the federal government, and then they turn and tell me to vote for Trump because he is going to magically wave a wand and fix everything.

I'm told by Democrats that "the election is rigged in Hillary's favor!," and then they tell me to vote for Bernie Sanders because he's going to "shake things up in D.C.!"

But I thought the elections were rigged? And I thought the big-bad gubment was coming for you guns?

Now suddenly we're all vehement supporters of the government, because the current candidates tell us that they're "different, outsiders, not bought and paid for, etc etc"?

Because that's how I see it, and it's maddening.

Every four years Americans do this #.

"But this time, it'll be different! My guy is going to make America great again!"

Sure it will, Princess. You keep on believing the rampant lies and empty promises of the authoritarian-esque candidates that are currently running.

In another four and a half years, this song and dance will be repeated. It always is. Americans blame "crooked politicans," yet the continuously cast their unfettered support through voting time and time again. They keep on voting the crooked politicians in, and let's be honest everyone: this election cycle is nothing new, nothing different.

Only in hindsight will this be realized.

Anybody who believes Hillary or Trump is worthy of being the POTUS , needs immediate medical attention.

The Clintons have a history of lying even under oath. Hillary lying about being under sniper fire is not a little white lie , that is a serious character flaw associated with Compulsive Liar.

She lies about not having any conflict of interest despite taking millions from special interest .

She lies about being successful in taking on the same special interest groups that give her money , despite those industry continuing being a cluster F for the rest of us while they make record profits.

She has a history of making bad judgements such as the email server thing and not being able to keep track of millions in her charities. She made such a bad judgement at minimum that she is under criminal Investigation by the FBI.

An avid trump supporter or hillary supporter is not only shameful, illogical, but directly responsible for the problems in this country. However, atleast trump hasn't proven his worthlessness already as a gov't official.

IMO the number one issue we have right now is getting the Masses to focus on the real issue

Settle?

The only real solution is Revolution V2.0

the only key issue that will ever result in change is NOT
Higher minimum wage
socialism
Happy flowers on sunny days

It is term limits.

But when you have millions thinking that a 15/hour minimum wage is the key issue, or that college should be free then you cannot get change.

You will never get change.

I'm a pragmatic realist.

We're all in a bus falling off a cliff and everyone wants to vote for the person who wants to put cup holders on the bus.

Exactly.

Not a choice between slow death and fast death. Choosing NO death. Choosing another path. Nothing worth having comes free or easy.

You see the problem then.

To expand on the bus analogy,

We're all in the bus. It is falling off a cliff. Hillary wants blue cup holders. Trump wants red. some guy sitting next to me is shouting out for green cup holders.

I say, "But we're falling off a cliff, shouldn't we do something about that?"

And everyone says, "Shut up! We're talking cup holders!"

And people wonder why I laugh. It is a tragic comedy of epic proportions.

The problem is we can "demand" all we want. We can stand for election all we want.

And the folks with tens of millions of dollars in campaign funds will continue to trounce the folks with tens of thousands of dollars.

The fix isn't as simple as "demand change" or putting one's self in the ring.

It is pretty obvious from your hatred of cup holders that you are a bigot/homophobe/racist/progressive/conservative/blahblah/something something and that you shalt not be tolerated around these parts.

dammit.

I think we should just hold our own beverages.

I don't think the government should have to hold them.

Every election, America trashes it's critical thinking skills. We take sides and rally around our candidates like they are our favorite football team. Regardless of who gets elected, the agenda of the elites rolls on. They continue to take away more and more of our rights. Electing a different POTUS changes nothing.

It's a bit comical to me really---how our choices are defined as "the lesser of two evils" when there are scores of people running for the office of president. There are lots of choices if you make the effort to do the research that msm won't do and provide your own choice in the matter. Vote for someone who had views similar to yours and forget about choosing evil.
I had to chuckle to myself when talking with a friend the other evening. She's a pubah in the Democrat party, a woman who is in my age group, grew up hearing the Kennedy mantra, "Ask not what your country can do for you, rather ask what you can do for your country." So last weekend she was at the state convention in Louisville and her choices were Bernie or Hillary. Her comment, upon returning home was: "They are asking us to decide between a communist and a war hawk---a man who never held a job more than two months before falling into politics or a woman who couldn't even be trusted to help put Nixon out of office."
You'll never find out about your real choices if you are chained to msm because they don't want you to know that you have them. They make tons of money on political races and they know where the butter is spread.
Saying that you must chose the lesser of evils just shows that you have bought into the msm's scam and haven't bothered to look any further than their narrow views. There are dozens of people running for office out there who aren't evil, aren't part of the evil party system. It seems to me that it is far more important to get non-party people elected at the local and state levels first because, as others have pointed out, the president is only one part of the problem. All three branches of our government are operating at levels of corruption probably not seen since the Teapot-Dome scandals of the 19th century. If we need a preview of what this country will be like in a few years if we allow the msm to continue to influence us, we need only look at a few videos from Venezuela.
