She was National Security Advisor to the Bush administration and was heavily involved in selling the Iraq war on national security concerns.

Key word: Advisor

She held a position which had two tasks.
1. Advise the POTUS behind closed doors
2. Publicly support the POTUS' official decisions whether they were based on the advice given or not.

We really don't know what Rice advised Bush and Powell to do in closed meetings. Furthermore, *most* of the American voters don't have an issue with the war itself, we just tired at how pacifistic and drawn out it became. Rice had no say in that part of that war... that was Rumsfeld who opted for a kinder, gentler ground war over an actual winning strategy.

The prevailing wisdom at the time, largely lead by her, Powell, and others was that we needed to attack Iraq. A lot of people were wrong, and if you're looking at them for their foreign policy expertise, which is what Rice would bring to a Trump team, then you have to take that into account.

As I said, she's quite intelligent but she was very, very, wrong here and putting her on the ticket would put Trump on the side of the Bush legacy which is something he has tried very hard to not be tied to, not being part of the political establishment that seriously screwed things up. She wouldn't be a good fit.

I know some I would not want to see on the ticket. No one who was trying for the main spot themselves, for starters, in this election season. The ones that didn't make it didn't for a reason. Placing them on the ticket seems like ignoring the will of the people. As far as who to choose, hard to say. Whoever it is, that is likely to have an effect on the outcome, so it's a good question.
