Ralph Nader is pretty much my go to guy on social issues. Anything he says I follow like the bible.

Ralph Nader on Trigger Warnings: 'Young Men Now Are Far Too Sensitive Because They've Never Been in a Draft'

NADER: [Y]ou see this when you walk past construction sites and you talk with white male workers, they feel they have been verbally repressed. It's hard for someone your age to understand what I'm about to say. They like to stand on a corner and whistle at a pretty lady. They like to flirt. But they can't do that anymore. Multiply that across the continuum. You can't say this about that, and you can't say that about this. And the employer tells you to hush. And perhaps your spouse tells you to hush, and your kids tell you to hush. So they have a whole language that they inherited—ethnic words like Polack. A lot of these people grew up on ethnic jokes, which are totally taboo now. Do you know, Lydia, there are no ethnic-joke books in bookstores anymore?

DEPILLIS: There used to be?

NADER: All the time. There were Negro-joke books, Jewish-joke books, Polish-joke books, Italian-joke books. They used ethnic jokes to reduce tension in the 1930s, '40s, '50s. And they'd laugh at each other's jokes and hurl another one. But it still flows through ethnic America, you know. There are hundreds of things that people would like to say. So here's this guy—he doubles down on them, he blows their minds. So that's the first way he got their attention.

First off, whistling at girls is violence against all women of the world, evil scum. How dare he even say the word Jewish, or Polish or Italian without being either Jewish, Polish or Italian. This is racism against Europeans, Ralph Nader must be of Nordic descent and a mini Hitler.

Now, Nader's never been focused on so-called "identity" issues—he takes the usual liberal positions on social issues most of the time, but he's also the man who once responded to a question about same-sex marriage by saying he wasn't "interested in gonadal politics."

Gonadal politics?

Found a diamond in the rough folks! No more gonadal politics for me!

Stop acting like sensitive little babies folks and stop trying to police my language because IDGAF!

#MissionOffensive

(I'm a racist, sexist genocidal maniac who worships Stalin at my alter of Lucifer and I should stop whining about people whining)

Feel better?

I look to the Late Andy Rooney for inspiration and common sense.

Andy Rooney said on '60 Minutes':
I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers.. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.
Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.
I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, which is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE ?
I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.
I have the right 'NOT' to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.
When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability.
I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.
I think the police should have every right to shoot you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word 'freeze' or 'stop' in English, see the above lines.
I don't think just because you were not born In this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.
We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.
I don't hate the rich; I don't pity the poor
I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.
I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.
It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say 'NO!'
I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!
I am sick of 'Political Correctness.' I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they be 'African-Americans'? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else, and if you don't like my point of view, tough....

I would consider it derogatory and insensitive and disrespectful - imo, whistling at a female is not violence, it's immature.

In regards to sensitive young men, I would consider them to be a product of the state sanction education system over the past 40+ years coupled with the online world of growing up being told that thinking a certain way is intolerant and that the only cure is conformity to the political correctness trainwreck.

Personally I prefer Andy Rooney over Ralph Nader. Andy Rooney was like s mini John Wayne with a little bit of George Carlin in him. He made straight no nonsense sense.

Cheers - Dave

Sensitive eh?? When I was a kid others would try to insult me because I looked more Asian than latino. I don't exactly know why it would be considered an insult to call me Asian though, as if that is a bad thing. It got annoying though so I just did what all kids from our time did with bad mannered children, I would introduce them to my fist. And they acted more polite.

My son was reprimanded the other day for hitting a kid that would not stop bothering him. I told him he was not in the wrong and that kids with bad manners whos parents don't insist on being polite used to learn it from other kids that would physically correct that behavior. Unfortunately the system and other parents don't believe that a childs manners should be corrected, and that constantly pestering someone, getting in their face and calling them names is more acceptable than correcting such behavior.

So I told him next time this kid is bothering him, just tell the teacher you don't want to make him cry like last time and to please address his behavior. This the last week of school so I doubt it will be an issue.

But I am a firm believer that if someones child is being bratty to mine, the fist is the appropriate way to fix the behavior.

We're suppose to do what the children tell us and let them run our lives now in some kind of sick fantasy world that adult children are trying to make us live in.

Ah yes, racial jokes back in those days were all just a scream! Light hearted humor, amirite KKK? I mean Jesus, what is he even talking about? He sounds like a guy who is out of touch with today's youth and basically the modern world.

You know who really hates guys whistling at hot girls....,ugly girls.

I do have to give the ugly girls credit. They didn't hate the playas, they hated the game. To a degree they did get the public game changed.

You might be on to something about our public schools and how they tried to boost the self esteem of a new generation. Problem is, that may have backfired and produced children who had too much confidence, unearned confidence in themselves. I'm sure there are studies done and online somewhere but I'm tired so that will be a search for another day.

Replace the word confidence with arrogance and you may be on to something.

Well, with arrogance first comes confidence. You can't have one without the other, right? But arrogant, oh yes and that's the problem.

Today's youth have nothing to connect to except maybe some wifi. The things he is talking about aren't out dated. He's talking about trying to save some shred of free speech. Do you know who Ralph Nader even is? He is old school "new left"/Green Party. You could learn a few things from him.

I would say no. Arrogance is a defense mechanism to deflect any criticism. It can be viewed as similar to confidence, but it aint the same.

I'm very aware of who he is. To say today's youth have nothing to connect to but wifi and that we only have a shred of free speech left tells me you are also in need of learning a few things.

I dunno, I'm no expert in the field of the mind but every arrogant person I've ever meet were very confident, and their arrogance definitely wasn't a defense mechanism.
