A real strange thing happened a few minutes ago.

A quote from a Wiki page was posted in a topic and 8 minutes later, one word was poof !! gone !!!

Somebody edited the Wiki page to reflect "toned down" language.

Looks like "They" are watching certain forums very very closely !!!

Original post in active thread:

National Council of La Raza

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) (La Raza, or The Race[1]) is America's largest Latino advocacy organization. It is a hate group that advocates in favor of progressive immigration reform policies, including a path to citizenship and reduced deportations.

edit to add:

They changed the page already !!!!!

somebody is nervous I think...

If you want unbiased definitions and descriptions from Wikipedia lets just say you get what you pay for...right? Everything there should be taken with a grain of salt.

The same thing happened as soon as someone posted about the loss of Blue Angel #6. I looked up on Wikipedia to confirm who the pilot was and almost instantly #6 was pulled from the roster.

Not really strange. Many Wikipedia entries have at least one person for whom the entry is their "pet topic." I'm not surprised that La Raza is one of those. As for editing out "hate", it seems to make it more accurate, as an encyclopedic entry, as opposed to an opinion piece.

It is Wikipedia so you get what you pay for.

Is this really worth being upset?

Edit - someone has too much free time.....

i've never done it, but can't anybody edit a wiki.
if so start a editing war, and put hate back where it belongs.

This explains soooo much about who and what is defined.

I just read through the "edits" of democratic socialism.

(never thought to read the edits section before)

No, "they're" not "watching the forums closely." Good grief. The change to the page was picked up by a bot. It's automatic.

From what it looks like, in the span of 60 seconds the following things happened:

- The page was edited to add "hate" in "It is a hate group that advocates"
- You excerpted the edited text and pasted it to a thread.
- The bot reacted to the edited text automatically and reverted the edit.

That's a hell of a coincidence.

EDIT:

Actually there were two edits that were both reversed by the bot. The first was the addition of "and they suck" which was removed within a minute. The second was the insertion of the word "hate" which was removed within 15 minutes. Your post it looks like was 7 minutes after the second edit flagged for vandalism (15 minutes after the first edit flagged for vandalism had been reverted) and 8 minutes before it was reverted.

Why are they watching you, Xuenchen...

Seeing as it's your posts they're stalking to edit Wikipedia.

Sounds sinister.

Yeah, bots are "watching" quite a number of Wikipedia pages for changes. Some of them even tweet. Bots aren't anything super complicated. I've written a lot of bots myself such as the one that pulls hundreds of RSS feeds and scans for interesting posts for Obscuragator.

In this case, it looks like ClueBot NG pulls the page every 15 minutes and could be doing something as simple as searching the text for a list of words.

i find it more disturbing that the page was edited to read what you wanted it to say - just 7 minuites before you quoted it

its hardly the skynet takeover, it picked up an idiot editing wikis.
metapedia and conservapedia accept opinion based wikis over fact based.

Well, it's Wiki.....they can't break their record when it comes to inaccuracy now, can they?

I saw editing around '08, of every age having to do with Constitutional eligibility.
